How to start a race team.

What do you guys think goes into it from a business standpoint and start up capital?
Are you thinking like a few million just to get started then or course have your main sponsors and other sponsors? How would you go about getting the sponsors on board? Is there manufacture money or bikes supplied for riding a certain brand?
How does a team get paid for the owner to pay equipment and the riders salaries and travel? I mean I’m sure it’s sponsoring money but it would have to be a bunch.
Just curious on some insight to this.
Seems like would be so fun but tough to start. I am guessing factory teams are owned by the factory like Honda and they hire a manager where other non factory teams the owner is the owner. I wonder how much they can make running a team.

How much can they make? How many of those Daddy Warbucks funded teams have gone tits up over the years because Daddy Warbucks mouth was writing checks his ass couldn’t cover?

A race team makes $0 by racing alone. The idea is to promote their products at the races, and make money on retail sales gained by that exposure.

Just like any business, you balance income vs. cost. If the numbers make sense, go for it. In motocross, make sure to get payment up front!
