Definitely a major goal of mine in the next 3-5 years. Move out of the city, get a few acres, build a decent home with a big garage, and my own track to ride. That would be awesome. I've wondered what's involved with maintaining your own track though?

5 acres isn't much. My mx track is 1.1 miles long and is on about 15 acres.

That's kinda always been my goal as well. I'm on call 24/7 for work. I have enough time to ride, but not always enough time to load up and drive a couple hours to a track.

We had a track on just over 5 acres when I was a kid and maintaining it wasn't a big deal but it's all on you and how you want it to be maintained. We would plow and drag it every two weeks with a small tractor and water it if it needed but there was countless weeks we rode on a hard, dry, rain rutted track. It was better than not riding at all. About every other year we'd rent a skid loader and revamp it.

Mine, only a little over a minute lap time but nothing beats having your own track.

My track is in a 2 acre area and has everything one could want. Its full blown sx with ways to link together hucks like a
Skatepark and go both directions over jumps.

I laid it out to work on getting speed to do jumps close to corner exits so I'd be comfortable when going to races with do or die stuff right off the corner.

Someday I wish to have my own track. Just being able to open up the garage and roll right onto your land to go ride, sounds awesome! Would love to see some more pictures of others private tracks.

My phone number is 678-464-4024. If you have never said anything about how the tracks are to dangerous and how we need to make the sport safer, feel free to text me and I will contact you the next ride day I have.

A friends track. Could probably be done with 4 acres. A little smaller than an arenacross track

I have my track laid out on about 4 acres, I have 30 acres all together but I picked the spot with the best terrain and dirt composition. The bigger you make it the more work it is and I want to ride not prep the track all the time. Mine is really just a glorified corner track but man, when mother nature hooks it up there is no place I'd rather ride!!! I'll post pictures and vids in the morning!

This was my track at my first house around 2000-2003, it was on about 2 acres. Not much to look at and it was small but lots of fun with the elevation changes. It can be done on a small lot.

I have 5 acres and right now just a turn track that I mow down. I am bringing in dirt this spring to build. I have another 5 next to me that is for sale that I will buy eventually and expand.

I built an outdoor track on 40 acres and used up at least 25 of it. Rolling hills and 2:30 minute pro lap times. There are at least 4 sections that require 4th gear on a 450....

Hemond's MX Park. The facility that I manage in Minot, Maine. 2 tracks and 10+ miles of offroad trails. Hosted a music festival last August with three different stages as seen in the second photo.

These are my two tracks. The ax/sx is around 50 second lap times. The mx track is around 2:15 and about 1.2 miles long. Not sure on how many acres, I would guess around 5 or so. The ax is onto of the hill, with the motocross track going around it and onto the other side. Being above and next to the lake makes it great for draining and easy access to water the tracks.
Here are some old videos. skip to 2:14 to start a lap on the mx track

Here's the build thread for my track that I posted on an equipment site I follow.
6.2 acres and about a 2 minute lap time for fast intermediate

ok, im back with pics. On 4 acres or so, the long sweepers are maintenance throttle 3rd gear, hit 4th gear on the straight next to the woods, that where i put my jump. I ride the track both directions to help keep it fresh.
