Yes. From the 70's right through til now. As a matter of fact, I have not lost a single lap in my age group (50+) for the last 3 years, and I race most weekends. Sorry if that is a cocky statement. Truth is it felt good to say.

Winning is like sex, you never know how it feels until you've actually done it!

Been riding about 50 years.
As a teen only raced about four years and won some races, but my biggest accomplishment was winning an XR75 in a So Cal six week series at Saddleback and Carlsbad that had full gates every week.

Had to stop racing after that to attend Aviation School full time and could no longer afford to race but I still rode regularly at Texas Canyon and my buddies house in Acton, Damon Duckett (RIP) who had a cool track around his house.

Job moved to AZ and the next year I turned 30 and started racing on a regular basis when the Honda Bucks program kicked off. New bikes every yr was the requirement and I won about $11, 000 which was really cool. Smile

When I turned 40 I had another resurgence and joined the AZOTMX gang and won a lot of races there too.

And yes like others have said there is NOTHING like pulling a Holeshot and leading a race wire to wire with the pack breathing down your neck. Woohoo

Apparently this guy sitting across the table in Starbucks Derby, might have won a few "back in the day!"

I love this thread. It's awesome reading all of your racing stories guys :-) I started in the 80's and won 4 of my first 5 races and was promoted to the B class where I did well but didn't win any championships but won a bunch of races. I got 2nd or 3rd in the 250 B championship that season. It was a super tough class that yr with John Dowd, Doug Henry and a number a super fast guys in the B class that season. I made expert in my 2nd season of racing and that was a HUGE jump up and it took some time to get that pace down which I never did. I did win 3 motos in the expert class and I remember each and every lap of those 3 motos :-) I've had a blast and wouldn't change a thing. I've probably won 100+ plus races since the 80's and I've won a few championships in the Vet A classes. I do remember winning like 20 times in my first season in the vet class and cleaning up on Honda contingency that season and they were paying $300 for a first overall which awesome. Made some nice coin those cpl of yrs until they stopped it the minute they signed Jeremy McGrath.
