Terry Boyd at the Sx's? I dont understand why that guy wasnt replaced years ago??!! His voice and style are like fingernails on a chalkboard, and is one thing I dread about going to the stadiums.

His voice should have to conform to FIM sound regulations.

I think he's good for the generic, non moto fan. But for guys that live and breathe the sport like us....not so great.

I get enough out of the racing that I have the announcer set "to ignore" anyway.

I have felt the same about ole Terry for..................for.......................well forever.
Good to know I'm not the only one. Every Anaheim 1 I think "this is the yeart we rid ourselves of him", but each year it's not to be. Maybe this season............................

We really like Terry and think he does a great job. Announcing and trying to entertain 40,000 people is difficult.

Are you involved with keeping him in the program? Pretty much everyone I know or talk to holds the same opinion as me: annoying. I dont know him, so I'm not saying that he's not a nice guy, but he is IMO very much a low point in the whole program. He makes the whole deal seem so Mickey Mouse, and one can predict pretty much everything he's going to say at every SX. After all these years, its definitely time for a change.......

I feel the same way, I tune him out but I think he has done a decent job and deserves his spot.

I have been a fan and racer for over 30 years and have heard a lot of announcers. With that being said , i don't mind him at all really. I think he does a great job at what he does. He is ( or was ) a disk jockey here on a hip hop station here in Portland OR. Which was really kind of cool really , because when i actually "did" listen to that station , he would talk about SX and MX quite often.

I dunno.....he's never rubbed me the wrong way , and he seems to be pretty good at his job.

Yeah you have to realize, MOST of the fans at a Supercross are generic fans, not hardcore fans, This may exclude the Anahiem crowds.

I have been to over 60 supercross races since 2004. I have only missed a handful of races in that time. I think what I like and the rest of the guys at Rockwell like about Terry is his consistency. I know that is something that some of you are complaining about and I think if you are looking for something new each race you might not like it.
I really like Terry as a person so I am probably biased. He is a really great guy and he really loves moto and the fans. I like the fact that he has knowledge of the sport and is not just some hired idiot to talk about the latest thing on his schedule.
I really just can't wait to get to Anaheim for A1.

Funny, I was going say the exact opposite, can't here the bikes!

Personally it's not what he says, just the sheer volume and ear piercing pitch that is hard to take..

Ah hell I love it wen Ralph tries to explain different teams on the same brand bike are teammates in the sense that they both ride the same kind of bike but sent team mates because they are on different teams... Lol now that crap is annoying.

Nothing will ever be good enough for us that are waist deep in the sport. Announcers, Disney mx movies, the laserlight show at sx, because we dig the racing. It is what our sport is. The rest is just part of the show, which we could give 2 craps about. But marketing it to more people In this sense helps our sport grow and will ultimately make it better.

Terry isn't making this stuff up as he goes, it is all scripted and planned out.
Whether it's Terry or someone else, it's going to be the same script, so what difference does it make? At least Terry does like and know moto and just isn't some empty suit talking head reading off a cue card.

As soon as some of you come to grips with the fact that SX is racing AND entertainment geared towards the non-hard-core-racer/fan, the easier it becomes to understand why they do what they do. Do you folks ever look around at the people at a SX? How many of them do you think actually ride? How about race? How about actually follow the sport closely as true fans? IMO, a large percentage of people there are there for entertainment...to drink beer, yell and scream and wait for racers to eat shit hard, same as monster truck.

Next SX you go to, look around

I did not know if TB was ever a racer and this info and what EIDave said, does make a difference in how I view his position on the floor at SXs.
