I know he seems flakey, but how has a team not given him one more chance at a healthy season? Red bud shows he has skill/speed. His fitness was even subpar at the time! I feel he would have been a better sign than Shimoda/Swoll/Robertson/Frye/Thrasher, averaging his finished between indoors/outdoors. Providing he was serious about doing sx when he said he would at Redbud.

Love to see a smaller team scoop him up and he come and kill it. Any kid with that much raw speed and talent that is getting passed on is crazy

Thought I saw in another thread that his family doesn't do Supercross since his brother Jesse passed away some years back from a crash on an SX track. Not sure how much truth there is to that, or if he would completely rule out SX for the future if that is the case.
Edit: whatever I read in the that other thread was incorrect, as others pointed out.

Jesse passed at Lake Whitney (RIP), which is an outdoor amateur national. I think they had hesitations about sx due to danger, however he stated he'd be riding SX for Star at Redbud. Which obviously didn't happen..

His brother didn't die on a SX track, it was at a regular mx track in texas. He's ridden SX before on video, and this summer he said he would race SX in 2021.
I would assume his departure has more to do with the GasGas/Yamaha trade with Barcia and Thrasher, and the money involved in that, rather than him not racing SX in 2020. I would guess since he's riding orange it wouldn't be to big of a stretch to see him riding for the EBR Privateer effort, since they have made the transition to orange in the last 2 years and that seems to be the only real landing spot involving an orange bike unless he goes full privateer.

If I only I could win the powerball. I would start a team with Phil and Troll Train for entertainment/good guys to hang out with and Ty for results....I think Star would've been better off keeping him than signing Craig, but maybe Craig will finally live to his potential in 250sx

Could not agree with you more. The kid is young, fast and going to be way more entertaining than Craig could ever hope to be. Big loss for Star, but I also think it has to do with the signing of Thrasher. Sadly, supercross is the tail that wags the dog, although the rumor going around was that he was game for supercross so who really knows. I would have also preferred them to keep Masterpool over Nichols, but perhaps he was still under contract and has good sx skills.

because the sport has shifted to supercross as the primary focus and Ty and his family had decided that SX wasn't necessarily as important to them and hoped they could still get by trying to do mx only. Now he's fallen behind in SX and there are less options available so it made it more difficult for him to get a ride. that's how it appears... he could do amazing in europe in the mxgps if he ever decided to go that route. could be the next American hero over there. He is young enough to get started and have a good long career of mx.

The thing about masterpool is that there is so much unknown about him. Besides his cool YouTube vids I can’t say I’ve even heard a single interview other than mybeeee pulp. But in general he seems to stay out of the line light. now a days refers need to have a “brand”

For the life of me I don’t know why they would sign Craig over Masterpool. Kid has tons of heart and personally I would question Craig’s.

Without seeing him ride Supercross I can't really say whether they should have signed him. Supercross is hugely important, and if he can't or won't ride it well, then I would have to say sign Craig all day.

Not certain, but I think Ty may have something in the works that isn't finalized yet. I know he's got new bikes and they have rebuilt their SX track. I wouldn't be surprised to see him on the gate in January.
