Wrist splint for about 5 weeks and you'll be good to go. Of course I am not a doctor nor do I play one on tv.

I just broke mine. However, mine was not displaced like yours appears to be. My ortho says 6 weeks in a cast, but if it was displaced then it would have been surgery. I cut the cast off couple of days ago, and a few weeks early and put
the splint back on. I am not a medical professional though...

How important do you consider your right wrist?

you should see the x rays of my right wrist… if it were me i would get a second opinion and have a couple screws put in there but it’s your arm not mine!

You will definitely need surgery to repair that. The fracture extends into the joint space. If you do not get it surgically fixed you will have issues with it forever.

I broke my left foot in November of 2000 , waited on the first surgery and it caused complications. The bones in your wrist are similar to some of the foot/ankle bones. I had a crushed few bones , but the big issue was the Navicular and how it plays a big part ion the movement . The bones in your wrist do not get a lot of blood flow and can be hard to heal in the best of conditions. I would go see an orthopedic surgeon as soon as possible. I went in 3 weeks after the break and it had healed just enough to cause trouble. I ended up getting multiple surgeries , a major staph infection and my foot is now fused. My last surgery was in late 2011 , around August. I'm doing well now , but it could have saved me a lot of time if I had not tried to take the quick way out of it. I had been cleared to ride 2 times and later found out my foot had never healed fully. I had some of the best orthopedic Dr.s in New England work on it and still had issues. If I was You I would go get it checked. The ER. dr's were not even sure my foot was Brocken, the Orthopedic Surgeon said it was the worst break he had ever seen. So I wouldn't take the ER diagnoses as the final word. I was in my very early 20's when I first injured myself and had many other injuries heal up just fine the foot was just a bad one. But I didn't know it until I saw the Orthopedic. I almost didn't go and was going to not have surgery . And then he pulled me aside and said if you do not get this fixed , You will never be able to run again, and walking will be difficult. With the complications I ended up having I know he was correct. Play it safe and take a day or few hours and get a good Orthopedic to give his opinion . Maybe it will be fine. I have looked at enough X-rays to know that it looks like stuff is not in the right place! And any break on a joint, no matter how big or small can cause big problems down the road if it is not lined up. It could just be the angle of this X-ray. But I would check it out. As much as it sucks to not be able to ride. If it heals wrong , You will miss a lot more than a few months of riding.

If you don't get it fixed properly...you're gonna wish you had.

That ER splint isn't even going to keep it properly immobilized. You really should see the specialist. I was able to just wing it with one of my broken wrists, but it was nothing compared to that. Besides, that ER splint is going to get really smelly in 6-8 weeks.

Displaced is bad in my opinion. I'd put a screw or two in it as wrists could be tricky down the road . I've got plenty of hardware and feel decent for 57 year old mx'er

That radius plateau could be displaced which will cause problems in the future. You should see Ortho.
My opinion is only worth what you paid for it.
-best of luck

That is a very broken forearm. I would recommend scheduling an appointment with an orthopod immediately!!

Dodging surgery and recovery time to get 3rd in the 250 c class again? Sounds like a smart move to me.

I would get it checked out. If I'm reading that xray correctly, without surgery, your arm is going to be slightly shorter than before the injury.

If you end up getting surgery have them do the carpel tunel release while they are in there.. My wrist healed well but once I started riding again had issues with my hand going numb was told it is common due to pressure around the nerves
