In need of new boots soon. Currently in Tech 7. Had my mind set on the SG12, but after trying on both size 11 and 12 I’m not too thrilled with the fit. I have narrow feet and the Gaerne just seem too wide. Alpinestars size 12 fit me well so I know what I’m getting there. Just curious how everyone is liking their new Tech 10 so far and how well they are holding up.

As long as your willing to cut up the middle section for flex. My two pair are holding up just fine from my Ti pegs.

I had multiple sets of SG12 as I used to sell them. I switched to tech10s last year. I like the new boot a lot more but you do need to cut them Imo. There just way to stiff out of the box, after break in etcc. When cut its a better tech10 than previous generations.

I didn’t mod mine and I’ve had no problems shifting. Mine are holding up fine. I run pretty aggressive pegs and no wear at all yet.

You really should look at some SIDIs. They are more narrow than Gaerne and like the SGs they are a way better boot than the Alpinestars.

Agreed.

I don't know how people run the tech10s.

Felt like I was in a cast and then wore out really really fast. My Sidi's have held up really well and its the only pair I have now. Replaced one set of soles and screws over the last year.

I’ve thought about the SIDI Crossfire 3 as well. What’s the better option to go with, the SRS or the TA?

I just put my first ride on the new Tech 10. I loved em! Didn't have to search around for the controls and I didn't think they were too stiff. I don't like that the shin plate is so cupped, kind of sticks out.

I went with SRS because I like the replacement option. I gotta kick my bike and it's rough on the boots. I don't think you can go wrong with either.

My last 2 pairs of Tech 10's were tore up pretty quick (~15-20 hours of riding). Patch highlighted in red would get caught under my air box, YZ250. And the blue highlight is starting to open up on my new pair.

Even though the new Tech 10 has different inner patchwork, I don't feel comfortable paying top dollar for a product that's disappointed in the past. Most likely going to Gaerne next.

Put a thicker footbed, like a Superfeet green, in the SG-12s and they will fit you.

TA fit wide, SRS fit narrow. If you like the Tech 10, the SRS are more similar.

$500 boots, and you cut them? That doesn't sound good Bro.

What part of the boot are people making these cuts on?

Would love to know this too. I'm looking for a new boot brand as I've been wearing Fox Instincts for a while but I don't wear any other Fox gear anymore so it....just looks weird. Instincts fit my feet really well, and break in time is nothing, but the ankle support sucks after a few weeks. So if I bottom out / G-out on the balls of my feet, it's a nice sprain.

I used to use Gaerne but the toebox was to roomy up and down and I missed shifts, and just never had a great feel for the shifter or brake pedal.

There’s a plastic piece on the front where the boot hinges. People are cutting them so they flex more. You don’t need to cut them. I sure as hell wouldn’t and I bet they’d work just fine as noted by many. Don’t buy into this cutting your new $600 boot crap.

Mine are holding up good, but starting to show wear on the inner soles. That said, I have my pegs razor sharp, so its par for the course. I like stiff boots, so mine are not modded/cut. Curious how they feel modded, but just can't undo after the chop so I am holding off since they dont bother me while riding. Walking around, well, they are a bit stiff, lol. I like them better than the past gen, although they still remind me more of older (pre tech 8 lights) than the previous tech 10's. Oh yea, and the inner bootie is worlds better. All comes down to preference, but I have always used Astars with decent luck.
