Saw this on their site, and got a sneak peek behind the curtain. They'll start selling tires on Wednesday (in limited quantities), are working on a 450-compatible rear, and it sounds like mini rippers will also have tires available soon.

Hung out with brand manager Irish Saunders at Indy.
He says that they will be pricey, but this is a spec tire that everyone can buy.
The ones the guys are using on the track are the same as what they are selling to you.
Like Gibby said, a mini tire, 450 rear and big bike fronts are coming soon too.
They have some big plans in the works also.
This is going to be a big deal.

I’ll try one after my Michelin is bald. But 150 a tire is steep. Hopefully they aren’t that much .

Mentioned it in the other thread but on sale starting tomorrow 11am EST.

You can purchase them HERE. Not on the site yet.

If you go under the FAQ you'll get a little bit of information.

Its already been said these will be pricey. And I'm gonna bet they're race only tires, in other words they'll be destroyed after 30 minutes. On the plus side, your tires ought to hook up just like Ken roczens

|

4/10/2018 9:42 PM

^^^ The tires are race specific. I don't know how long they'll last but certainly not as long as a set of Michelin, Pirelli, etc.

You can always flip them around and get more use out of them for your money but you can do that with most tires.

It's more than likely a great tire if you race at a high level but a waste of money for the average weekend warrior.

Probably ain’t gonna be a tire for me then . Lol

4/10/2018 10:25 PM

l checked the tech specs, says the 110/90-19 (the only tire currently avail) has a "section width" of 5.00". l'm confused, is it 110mm or 5.0" (125mm)?

Melbourne, Australia. Current rides: '11 RMZ450, '84 CR500, '06 DRZ400, '79 KX250 with 400 engine, '06 GSXR1000 full Yosh racebike.

I’m going to support them because they support drag racing.

Very cool seeing more that 1 tire brand in the Pro races!!

Certain top riders get the special tires and now ....... every rider can get them!

4/11/2018 6:44 AM

Do they sell them without the big ugly Hoosier on the sides?

|

4/11/2018 6:48 AM

That's a good deal for a spec tire.

|

4/11/2018 6:55 AM

Probably too expensive for your general consumer, but I do like the logo on the side.

|

4/11/2018 7:18 AM

It's about the same retail price as a Dunlop. Of course

|

4/11/2018 7:25 AM

Please explain to what a "Spec" tire is?

Do all the Privateers run Spec tires? or even the Rock River guys do they have Spec tires?

I saw they only had rear tires for a while so a "Spec" rear tire and whatever brand tire was a good combo?

Yeah that's also what I thought. Their logo font is horrendous

For marketing it's a no brainer. No one knows they're making moto tires if you can't see the branding.

|

obviously the logo is doing its job?!??!?!wink wink laughing laughing

|

Ya the logos are sick

This is something I have never understood in our sport, why can only the elite teams/ riders get the special tires? Say I have the money to burn, and I wanna run them at chickenlicks mx park, why can't I buy the Dunlop spec tire that Roczan or Tomac is running? I don't care about life, I want max performance. I asked Clark Stiles this a couple years agi and he actually said the OEM teams asked them to not sell them to privateers, non factory supported riders. Always thought it was a odd thing.

|

4/11/2018 9:27 AM

Thanks for the reminder.

To those who complain about price, it is a high performance item for people that want a high performance tire. It's not a Shinko.

For those complaining about the font, do you honestly ride dirt bikes? I am seriously asking you that. This is vitalMX, not vitalMYLITTLEPONY.

Thank you, Hoosier Tire for offering an option. GREAT!

|

4/11/2018 9:32 AM

I am really curious to see how these perform. I know a few of the guys over at Hooiser from drag racing, and they stand by their products and put a hell of lot of time and money to produce the best drag slicks and radials. If they bring that menataility over to MX i think they can ceratinly win over a few of us.

I don't crash, I just run out of talent

$130 after you put it in the cart and go to check out.

"Subtotal $145.00
Discount (Free Shipping MX tires) -$15.00
Grand Total $130.00"

I heard that works for extending sprocket life too

So basically the OEM's don't have enough faith in their $100k factory bikes or their multi million $ hired gun pilots. They might as well get the AMA to change the rules so the factory guys can have the first gate drop on a staggered start. grin

Hey man, this came from the guy who did a bulk of the development riding for the Geomax tires. Just going on what he told me. I did have a set of MX51's on my BTO bike that was Byrnes bike that were race spec tires, they had unbelievable grip, also lasted 2 rides. None the less it was a 100% different tire then one off the shelf. Hell even Reed said a few years ago he rode a SX track on production Dunlops, said it was dangerous.

Not sure about the use of spec in this conversation...

Generally, when you're talking about "spec" anything, it's that you're running within the confines of regulations, so that you don't get an advantage. Spec engine, spec bodywork, etc.
