Honest opinion about CL bike

craigslist bike

I understand a bike is worth what people are willing to pay for it, and judging by the asking price for most used KTMs I see listed in my area, it seems KTMs follow a different depreciation schedule than do japanese bikes, but does this price seem reasonable to you fellas?

Nice, but no.

Aftermarket stuff doesn't get any real return on investment, unless pulled off and sold separately

Nice bike, but overkill $$ on a used 14 model.

Like DP stated. Nice bike but not worth that imo. I personally will pay a little more for a well maintained bike with goodies depending on if I like the mod(s) done or not. Good luck.

Thanks for the input. I was already leaning towards not wasting my time as I felt like the guy had pretty unreasonable expectations for what the bike was worth, but wanted to make sure that I wasn't the one off base before taking it out of consideration.

Hmmmmm, only $11,700 Cdn. Guess I'll have to settle for a brand new '17 XC, for $7500. Bummer.

If you want a KTM, come to Canada and buy a new one. Left over '17s for the price I posted, and it would be roughly $5800 US.

This is the OP's bike, right? Sweet ride no doubt, but if you have most of the stock parts you should turn it back stock and sell the aftermarket stuff. The good parts off that bike would sale pretty quick if priced fair.

9k is pretty damn steep , especially for a '14. But for an off-road bike , that is one hell of a nice bike.

It's a generation old. The new motor is an improvement not to mention better forks. $300 more will get you an 18.

Those pics were either taken before he even rode it, or it's been on the street all 45 hours.

Asking way too much, although I'm sure he could find a buyer around $6500. Other than it being the older style bodywork, it's a great motorcycle.

No, this isn't my bike and I don't know the person selling it. I agree 100% the price is way out there. Wasn't suggesting my own interest at that price, but rather the bike itself. Since I don't necessarily subscribe to the notion that because the bike cost more up front, it loses less value over time than a bike that cost less new, I was seeking all of your opinions. Personally, I thought right away that the guy was out to lunch, but I was willing to accept that maybe I was wrong. So, in the event that the collective opinion felt he was high, but by a smaller amount than I had thought, then I was going to take the time to get in touch with the guy to try and negotiate something more reasonable. Personally, my initial thought was that my max price I would offer would $5,500, which is what seems like is pretty close to what most of you had thought as well. In the end, not going to waste my time talking to him when he is so far away from reality.

You open to trades? I'll trade you an 04 kx250f with set up suspension, pro circuit pipe and fox head sticker and my baseball card collection for your 2017 Ktm factory edition.

And the guys willing to pay for a fully prepped bike with tons of goodies on it generally go for the latest model anyways.

Yeah, it's real clean and the anodized footpegs and sharkfin obviously never met a rock...
Guy should spend a few hours putting it back close to stock and sell all this stuff separately imo.
