Why wouldn't they allow a shop to provide a 450 for their shootout?

Most here might dismiss shootouts but there's no denying they're a force in marketing.

There probably isn't any point in supply a bike when all the American mags have done their shootouts already.

I'm curious if they asked the dealer to supply it for free or if they offered to buy it. I can't see there being any issue if they wanted to buy it.

There isn’t any 2018 models in the country, and what’s the point of a shop supplying a 2017 model

I guess all of the 25 Kiwis who were going to buy a Honda will have to read the Aussie shootouts. I wonder if the valve settings are the same.

Yeah come on. If you are Honda and you ship bikes there, do you want to bother letting one become ‘used’ for magazine shoot outs. I’m surprised the other manufacturers bother.

I don’t think it’s because of anything sinister. UNLESS they imported some matterley basin clay to that track?

They won't let a dealer supply a bike because it will not be set up by the factory Honda set up crew. That means they basically take the bike apart and rebuild it correctly. They don't want a stock production bike in a shootout if they can't verify the set up. Thats my take on it. All the other bikes in the test probably have been through the process.

My wife has a friend who works for Jaguar in the UK and it is her job to set up and prep magazine test vehicles. It is quite a process that they go through. Bedding in the brakes, alignments, setting trans and engine calibrations, and much more. She hated prepping cars for Top Gear, said Jeremy Clarkson always hated new Jags. He actually liked the last one she did for them.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner.

Can you imagine the companies telling a magazine to just go pick one up that was assembled by JoJo, the shop apprentice and hope he knew what he was doing??

I don't even know how New Zealand came into the equation here other than some fan of Kiwi's?

But anyway,

Is this the same mag that never includes 250 2 strokes in their "250" shootouts?
