I was watching an old SX last night and they had Holly and another dude talking about PACE Motorsports live show, where they would do an Internet broadcast doing an audio play-by-play over the Internet, because races weren't live yet. Funny to think how big Raceday live is now and how far it has come, and how long Holly has been hanging around Supercross! Imagine only having an audio description of the live race (I remember listening to some of these on the Nationals).

Yup, 2003, 04, 05 range. Holly did an awesome job with the play by play. He could make you feel like you were there watching sometimes. Good stuff. I remember being at the track overnite before a Sunday race and having someone at home with the race on and we'd listen to it over a cell phone on speaker... good times
In the early 1990s Jim Holley did a McDonalds TV commercial where he was roosting a pink YZ250 and the voiceover said "There's a new kind of cowboy out there", and then went off about some steak sandwich. I have it on VHS but have never seen it online.

That's a cool commercial! But the one I saw was all Holley. It starts out with a slomo of him in the air coming into the frame, then he's on the gas in the air and some exhaust smoke out of the silencer. The clips above are from the longer Holley commercial though.
I will look for the VHS tape but doubt I still have a functional player.
Here is the commercial from my high tech 29-year-old VHS tape to my Kuro then holding a GoPro5 in front of the TV. I have not looked at this for 20 years at least. The opening scene still gives me chills.
Holly has a next level life experiance, holy shit what an awesome dude.
Not to pick on Cade, as I like the dude but just compare a couple of their story's. Cade is talking about taking snapchat videos of hitting someone with his phone as a prank. Holly is talking about losing his bike to buddys drug deals and getting held up at gun point, plus so much more unreal stuff. As I said, holy shit, what a life, he puts the dos equis man to shame.

I was more surprised Cade didn't know who Barry Hawk was.
Anyone who doesn't like Holley is a retard of the next level. I remember the play by plays of the sx races. Those were great and people were pissed when they got cancelled.
I was at Glen Helen back in 2002 for the YROC race with my two sons. ages 7 and 16 at the time. Talked to him one day and he introduced himself to the kids. Next day, he sees them in the pits and calls them by name.He joked around with the young son and then gave the older son an autographed Jimmy Ellis jersey. Why Jimmy Ellis? Jimmy Ellis couldn't make the race so Jimmy offered to fill in and ended up wearing all of Ellis' jerseys. After the races there was a bullshit session hosted by Larry Maiers with all of the legends who were there that weekend. Holley's stories were epic.

I used to mute the TV when they broadcasted the races and sync the Weege / Holley audio to the TV broadcast and watch it that way. I loved Jim Holley’s insight and the way he and Weege called the races.
I grew up with Jim, though. Jim was a local Indian Dunes icon and with my Pops being park manager at Indian Dunes, Jim’s literally known me since I was 3-4 years-old. I remember Jimmy downshifting the guy next to him going down the start straight, battling everyone from local guys like Kenny Zahrt and Russ Wageman to the death and then doing the same when factory guys like Hansen, Bailey, Omaha (who was an Indian Dunes local) Ward etc came out. Back in the days when most raced with zero fucks given about being PC, Jim still stood out as a wild man.,
The Shop
Loving the live video production, very easy to watch.
