I'm guessing you're there. I'm interested in hearing about the Lechien/Nicoll battle. Did "The Dr. D" make a house [of pain] call?

Scratch that . Those results shouldn't be in yet I wouldn't think. May just be listing who's in the classes.

I was there for the first moto. Dubach won, Nichol got close then dropped back 6-8 seconds. Keith Bowen caught and passed Lechien pretty quick and gapped him by 6-8 seconds, closed on Nichol. Bowen went down at the start or he might have used his mud experience to win it. At that time they were running Mt. St. Helen but it was a muddy mess and Dubachs lap times were 3:14/15. A bypass was made and the hill was cut out after that and lap times went to around 2:45/50 for the top 40 experts. GHR got a good soaking from a storm cell and really bombed the track. Some of the ruts were footpeg deep and outside of the lines was like quicksand. Not a typical GHR track today.
In some of the other motos it seems as if the Canadians stepped it up in the mud since most locals are completely out of their element when it rains. It didn't look like a lot of fun today for a lot of people. The good thing was the track didn't get real hammered.

Rain is good: it's the ultimate equalizer.

Second motos were awesome. Metcalf put on a show and Brown hung tough. Dubach is an animal. Nicol was consistent as hell and I thought Grewe was going to get him in the second moto but lappers came into play for both.

Stopped and introduced myself to GuyB for a second in between shoots.

Thanks for that update. Sounds brutal. 2:45 laps withOUT Mt St Helen. Sounds like survival/slow racing through the ruts.

Bowen? wow, I don't think he's raced all year! Haven't even heard about him riding.

Big winner? Not me. I bought an Apple 8+ a month or so ago (using Apple's Upgrade Program), and lost it in the track today while out shooting. I tried the Find My Phone feature, and it showed me a section of Glen Helen where I helped a guy push his stalled Kawasaki off the track. During a break in the action I tried to play a sound to see if I could hear where it was at, but it must have been buried too deep. I did a bunch of fishing around in the muddy track surface, but no luck.

That means I'm now the proud owner of a $900 iPhone charging cord...and another new iPhone. Wink

One interesting part was moto two of the 50+ action. There was a great "creative" line off the start, that allowed guys on the right side to go off the right side of the track on really hard terrain, versus the soup on the main part of the track. Grewe, Dubach, and Nicol about killed each other trying to get to it.

What's the deal with Metty being on a Smartop Honda? Is he testing for them or something?

Hasn't he signed with MEGA Kawasaki, alongside Reardon?

That team is done after the SX season, as far as I'm aware.

Dubach is one bad dude on a dirt bike. Doesn't matter what size either, he was hauling the mail at Diamond Don's on a 1983 YZ100.

I just learned that a neighbor from down the street finished 14th in the 30+pro class. Didn't even know he's on vacation in the US but it explains why his wife walked the dog last week.

This race looks awesome. It had people from all around the globe competing at the event. I took a look at the results and here's a list of the country's listed.

US, Canada, Italy, French Polynesia/Tahiti, South Africa, Ecuador, Germany, Brazil, Australia, Sweden, Mexico, Norway, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Denmark, Russia, Iceland, Japan, New Zealand, Ireland, Philippines, Argentina, Spain, Colombia.

Pretty cool to see some Canadians do well.

Villopoto's dad Dan did pretty good too. He got a 6th in 50+ Intermediate and 4th in 55+ Intermediate.

The rain was completely unexpected as it was forecast to be a mild day. The rain came and just sat there for hours. The track was a mess and it was pure survival the first motos. My class had 40 some odd people signed up and less than half that lined up on the gate. A couple times I was in a two wheel drift on the downhills. lol

I don't think that's an option on Apple's program.

You don't get a new phone, you get a refurbished phone. Just a heads up

Cool to see Metty out there
