It could be just a case of a Dutch thing, they can come across as arrogant cockey at times, but if you get to know them, they generally speak their mind and don't give a shit and that's just how most them are, but are decent folk

Totally oposite to Tomac (who grows on me more and more) just quietly goes about his business and does his talking in the track

You know the saying "if it ain't Dutch, it ain't much". I work with a lot of Dutch folks. Your point is spot on, and I generally like all of them that I work with. They can be wrong on things sometimes, but will never admit it, lol. I just laugh it off. Proof is in the pudding
Yeah I don't see why everyone is so upset about how he talks, I thought he was cool and it was a good interview. I feel like it's definitely a Dutch thing, they seem to be pretty blunt and speak their mind but are cool. However it does tend to rub a lot of people the wrong way, similar to Max Verstappen in F1 people either love or hate the guy. You're also right about them not admitting when wrong, dated a Dutch girl for a while and learned all about that one. Laughing

I can't listen to the pothead blabbermouth's 5-word vocabulary, 3 of which are f**k, dude, like...........and his 5-minute long "questions".........too bad, because he's had some icons like Casey Stoner, Mick Doohan, GL, Chad Reed, Pastrana and others trying to get a word in edge-wise .......... I wonder what they thought, listening to his toker F-bomb babbling LaughingLaughing The Aussie porn actors and goobers like "Buttery" (wtf?) are more his type, should stick with them until he learns how to speak properly.

Herlings is Europe's #1 Crash Test Dummy, like Blubba Stewart in the USA. Between them they've crashed away what? a dozen ships? Extremely impressive when all goes well, but when it doesn't........KABOOM

Herlings seems to be fragile too. Blubba bounced pretty good initially, but he punished many tracks severely with his noggin.....it took a toll. Herlings isn't prone to doing the stupid shit Blubba did though, gotta give him that. (ask RC) Laughing

Tomac did the same when he was young, remember that 250 crash in CO when he was a MINUTE ahead of 2nd place? Seems he learned his limitations (high as they are) early on. He's also not all over MTV bragging about his crib or his Lambo............

MX/SX going "mainstream" ................be careful what you wish for.

I think you need a beer my friend.

I wonder how many actually listened to the whole interview? Herlings gives ALOT of praise to the ama riders and even says he thinks overall they are faster right now than the MXGP riders.

People are falling for all the clickbait titles and not even watching the content...

He also said the ama tracks are better.

It's a shame we didn't get to see him come race this year.

And that race was only around 15 seconds out front I believe. Hangtown is when he won by 1:30.

I think Gypsy is doing a good job. Good guests (better than most) and he seems to enjoy life and his work. The 'power words' he use I guess is due to the excitement for the sport he loves. I guess he doesn't use the same words when talking about the grocery shopping list.

There are some other 'tubers' I found brutally boring...

I was also surprised how much knowledge Herlings had from like every season in MXGP and AMA. Talking about 2009 races like it was yesterday. JS7 has the same in his podcasts. Shows how invested these guys are in their sport

I too used to not be able to bear the host of that show.
Don't shoot the messenger. Jase , despite his vocabulary and the first impression he gives, is much more intelligent than he appears. He has had myriad of very varied guests and can engage in very complex topics beyond just moto.

While it is true than in the past he has gone repetitively at length about Jiu Jitsu, he is doing that a little less. It's passion, man. Like Ralph loves to scream and Matthes loves Tim Ferry's nuts. What ever floats your boat.

Got to respect the variety of topics, guests, and the quality of the equipment, recordings Gipsy has.
And like Swap, he does not just talk, he rides and is not afraid to show the world his riding. ( stark review )

Again, give it a chance. He is able to get great interviews not everybody can. Like the one with Jason Anderson for example.
And please, don't jump on snippets, "out of context" triggering nuggets. Give the entire discussion a chance.

Yes there are a few cringe moments, but equally interesting how Herlings is watching others. He might be a punk at times, but he is a fast one. Not everyone liked Hannah or Stewart. They are who they are despite not having more stats than RC. We are gifted to have Jeffrey's own words and opinions if we are interested to hear them. And it was free!
Depending on how he rehabilitates, I would think it would be cool if he races just enough GPs to pass Everts' records, then come over to this side of the pond.
Retirement might be looming, so what would be realistically worth doing in his last year(s)?
I would be happy if he comes for a full Outdoor season.

We used to have the Straight rhythm, the Monster Cup... Ronnie Mac vs Carmichael...Moto fite club where they eventually ended up on 4 wheels... Remember the Mastercross?

So there might be room for a bragging rights, some entertaining event of some sort.

Nobody gets killed and no money is wasted by just dreaming aloud, ok guys? is it ok to dream a bit?

I like entertainment. Life is short. There are plenty of other more serious things to get worked up about.
Cheers

I thought the interview was good and Herlings came across as a real student of the sport. His transperancy and honesty was refreshing. He also was humble and gave others credit when credit was due. My opinion of him went up big time. Great guy! I would rather listen to him share openly than 95% of all the other riders who can barely form an opinion on anything. I am a definite fan of this guy now as a human being and a racer who has an immense desire to win.

Love him or hate him he is killing it at the moment!

The guests he has on are next level. Name me someone who has had that sort or podcast with Herlings?!

While you all bitch and moan about him he keeps on killing it.

End of the day this is his way of earning a living so click baits etc is just part of the game.

BTW I think Herlings came across great! You Yanks just need to accept that telling it how it is and not giving a fuck is not arrogant!

I agree. I listened to the whole thing and am a bigger fan of Herlings because of it. He shows a true love for the sport and respect for his competitors. Do yourselves a favor and listen to it. I agree the gypsy dude can be annoying and wants to talk about his own martial arts every chance he gets, but this is a good one. Herlings doesn't do many interviews, so don't pass judgement if you don't listen to the episode.

Herlings is a great rider. But he’s made of glass. You have to be on the track to win.

I thought jas going on about how tomac and herlings are similar was way off the mark
I think they are very different people
I could never fathom seeing tomac talk a bit a 1-1 race with anyone, he does his job. Wins Says not much and Carry’s on. Where herlings seems to like the limelight much more

Whats the deal with herlings? I see him walking around, cycling, swimming etc. And yet no talk about racing. Is it possible that there is something else in the background? Fight with ktm? Waiting for his body to dispatch drugs?

As those who (have) race(d) know, winning racers are mostly alpha males who look always to win.

Herlings is presently the best there is. We all know he's the fastest guy in the world, don't we?

IF his latest injury sets him back, we will find out when he resumes racing.

I would guess he's still got a couple of pack leading years left him, but that remains to be seen.

He has had both feet fixed and will most likely not race this year.

Tomac has done the old standard podium interview than back to hibernating in Colorado throughout the week. Always humble after a win and just bulldogs until he finds his way. No flexing, rare podcast appearance here and there, and not super active on social media. Tomac has a supercross title this year and has a good shot at getting yet another outdoor title. What racing has Jeffrey been able to compete in this year? Let the racing do the talking.

I have no issues with anything Herlings has to say because I know that when he is on the racetrack he will give 110% and leave everything out there on the track. He has proven time and time again that when he is able to ride he is as good as anybody who's ever ridden. He has earned the right to his strong opinion in my book.

Tomac vs Herlings is ok. I'd rather watch Barcia vs Anderson vs Friese .. last man standing

Oh you think it would be clean racing between *#1 and #3??

Over 100k up for grabs, there would be fireworks!

*current ‘22 MX numbers so calm down….

I'd be surprised if it got chippy between ET and the BB. Eli isn't much for contact and Herlings is fragile.
Just my $0.00002 (adjusted for inflation).
