Herlings just set...

The fastest lap ever at Red Sand with a 1.43.8. I have no clue what was the old record but I heard something around 1.47...

Well, said like this it does not sound like a good idea BUT as far as I'm concerned there is a lot of tracks close from where I live that you can set records even after a couple years from the old record because the records are set when the track is in good conditions and as long as the track has not changed in its conception, the fastest laps around the circuits from the differents pro riders are close and logics. So yeah, we can compare these laps... as for Red Sand, I mean the track is not changing a lot from a day to another so....

It's not going to count in the official record books. His lap time was aided by the wind.

And he didn't go in the opposite direction to back it up.

I've never heard of lap time records being kept for a motocross track.

Track should be different in a some way, Herlings is never gonna improve his own best laptime with 3 or more sec. Seems a bit to much IMO.

Otherwise we are in for a boring MXGP season if he really got that speed down and stays injured free Woohoo

About as accurate as saying I set a new "lap record" on my morning commute to work.

Motocross tracks change from lap to lap... Comparing times from day to day is useless, much less from year to year. It's especially useless for a freaking sand track. Come on man.

...is this supposed to be shocking? Who was the former record holder? Trey Canard held the "fast lap" record at our local track when he showed up around the time he turned pro, because, well, he should have been.

He’s racing this weekend at Hawkstone Park. We’ll soon get an idea of what speed he brings this year.

Only track that would work on is the original USGP track at Carlsbad. That track never changed I don't believe. Same layout, same start, same dirt and same bumps.

Those in attendance said his tires barely touched the ground and and a dove descended upon him as he finished

This is like comparing a dry lap on the Nürburgring to a wet lap. Soooo much changes day-to-day, especially on a sand track

What the hell is going on when a person can't come onto a motocross message board and talk about motocross related goings-on without getting berated?
