17 Years old, goes 1-1 on the hard pack to claim his first world title, and Holland's first world title in 19 years!

Congratulations Jeffrey Herlings, the 2012 MX2 World Champ.

He claimed that one with authority! Hopefully he learned a thing or two this season and I'm not talking about his riding skills!

Congrats to Jeffrey! He deserves it. He looks to have taken a further step with his riding these last two weeks especially.

Congrats to Herlings! I don't care what people think of him over here in the states...he's young and said some dumb things, but I like the kid. Only time will tell if he's learned a lesson or two on handling himself off the bike....

He is the European Champion! It should not be called a world championship!

World Champion, amazing since I never saw him beat Baggett, Barcia, Tomac, Roczen, etc.....

But yes, congratulations on winning the MX2 GP Championship

Right. How many countries do the US Nationals visit? How many countries do the GPs visit? The kind of geography and math a toddler could understand.

Then F1 isn't a world championship because they didn't beat Jimmie Johnson or Will Power

It's an incredible accomplishment no matter what the series is called.
9/9/2012 8:42am
My fellow Americans...

If you try and discount his accomplishment by drowning it out with cries of :"USA"-- you make AMericans look like petty, sore losers. We all know how insanely difficult it is to win a world championship.

If you knew much about geography you would know that the USA is aslmost as large as Europe and many of the states are as larger or larger than some of the European countries. It does not come to the states and many other countries. It is a GP series and until all the best riders in the world compete in one series, no matter where it is held, it will never be The World Champioinship Series! It is a European Series, nothing more and nothing less! They can call it whatever they want to, but a World Championship Series it is NOT!

Dear World,

Congratulations on your Latest Moto2 Champion. He seems lke a fine young-racer and a true "Competitor" in the Olympian-sense. While it is the official postion of this office that, indeed, we acknowledge this Title as "World Champion", there is still the question of who IS actually the fastest.

We look forward to the conclusion of the saga of Who (Whom, if necessary) is trluy the fastest in this class.

We'll see you at the "World Games" in Lommel.

Good Luck,

The Office of American Moto

Not that it will change your opinion, but Europe isn't the only continent in the series.

And I thought you might be joking. First off the GP's do come to the states, just not every year. And just because they speak Spanish in Mexico and Portuguese in Brazil does not make these countries European or make it a "European Championship" And who gives a shit about the size of the countries? Have you been to Europe, or even outside of Texas? Sweden is very different from Bulgaria and Brazil is very different from Latvia. Please quit embarrassing your fellow Americans.

Herlings is an incredible rider and worked his ass off to win this championship, good for him. There is amazing racing and awesome racers in both series. Just chill out and enjoy.

We've compiled a list of all the Known Continents in the Upcoming World Games of Motocross (aka MXoN):

North America
South America
Europe
Asia
Africa
Australia (Please, look it up BEFORE you post)
*Texas

*Per this thread, we've determined that Texas has retained the right to secede from the Continent. Hey, it's Texas, it's what they do. Don't mess with them. They're well armed and they'll throw your ass in Ol' Sparky soooo quick that we'll forget your name before A1.

Agreed. They were the WC back when us Americano's couldnt race our way out of a paperbag. We use to go over there if we wanted to be known as the best in the world. Just because the tables have turned in that respect and the faster guy's are over here now they arent the World Championship's anymore? Make sure you tell Brad Lackey he was never a World Champ

Haha, nice!

Texas could field a pretty damn good team with Shorty, Hahn and Wharton.

Because all the best in the world at that sport compete in that series. It's not that hard.

Good post. Luongo & Co maybe butchering it, but it is still THE world champion ship and has been since 1957. I really hope RV does ride them. Would set a great precident for US Champions. I also wish AC would pack his bags and do a season in the Nationals.
