Such a strange crash. Hope it's nothing too serious but doesn't look good

Ugh are you kidding me.

According to mxvice and motorsport.com he is out of today, transported to hospital. Has pain in neck but no issues with feeling.

Lets hope he is back for weekend. Desalle had also bad crashes and is riding injured thats why he went backwards after 15min of riding last weekend. Herlings got 60 points to play with so if he can come back next weekend he will be ok.

F*ck not again, hope he's alright.
maybe a bike issue? strange to crash so hard in free practice assuming he was not pushing that hard

FFS
Hope he’s ok

The pictures of him laying on the ground and being streched off did not look good. Hopefully it’s nothing too serious. The reports of having feeling in his arms and legs are encouraging.

Looked like a freak accident on the replay they showed on the broadcast. Looked like he just landed in a soft spot. Such a weird place and a way to crash, and of course he gets the short end of it with an injury.

Yeah that was what i was thinking as well

Its not unusual to be choppered out. Air Ambulances are used a lot now, especially for things like this.

Just because it's faster I think. It's about an hour drive to the hospital, so if there's something wrong with a rider's neck, my guess would be that the team staff likes to fly the rider to the hospital.

Yeah any kind of neck injury a chopper would be mandatory. That bloke's got a neck thicker than my waist, I'm sure he'll be fine.

I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure.

he was almost back at speed and now this ..damn hope he is ok

He seemed to be in a lot of pain..

First of all, I really hope he is ok and gets back to full movement and mobility. First messages are positive (for how bad it could have ended), so that is the "good" part in this shitty situation.

He looked so matured, relaxed and patient this year. I really can't comprehend what is going on through his head right now. Makes you think what an unbelievable athlete and talent he is, coming back from those injuries is gnarly. Not only on the body, but also mentally. I've said it before on here and I will keep saying this for a long time, but sometimes these athletes don't get enough respect for all the things they are going through. One simple mistake and their career could be done..

looked like he overjumped first one , bottomed out and went over the bars

He’s tough. He will be back in no time I bet. It’s crazy how he just mentioned he was gonna settle down and not try and gap the field and ride more like TC. Then something like that happens. Either way hope he’s back for next round!

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing just released the following statement on Jeffrey Herlings’ injury. Below’s the official word on #84.

“Herlings out of Citta di Faenza GP after free practice crash. The MXGP World Championship leader has been taken to a local hospital for an MRI check on his head and neck. He has movement and initial signs are positive. More news soon.”

It looked like he was pushing or just OJ'ed the downhill to me. Pretty violent, GWS JH. The sport needs you.

I reckon he would of suffered a concussion in that crash..
So even if no injury ,I'm not sure he will make this weekend race...
Hopefully back following round after break.

Do the GPs have a designated doctor that travels to all the races? Someone with a postition similar to Dr. Bodnar in the US?

Hope he's good, but Dr. Vital suspects a fractured vertebrae minimum. That means more races missed. We might see him trying to salvage a championship again, but a shortened schedule doesn't help.

He wasn't doing anything too dumb, looks like an over jump into a kicker then a cross rut swap. Racing incident.
