It sucks, but i think the battle between him and Ferrandis will be very good.

Let's just hope he stays healthy, that would be a win, then if he stays healthy let's hope he wins the title if not, what could happen? 2017 MX2 so he can win the third one or what is the age limit?

But i think this was a KTM decision. Herlings just writing "Officially will be racing in mx2 in2016" doesn't feel like what he would write if it was his decision.

I remember a few years ago the rules were changed so he could stay down in the 250 class. What do the rules state now on how long he can stay on a 250?

I believe the rule is 23, and I think JH is 19? So he would have quite a few years before he is "forced" to move up.

Then he will race Jorge Prado next year.
The kid was still on a 65cc (!) when Herlings was already in his second full season (and in the title fight with Roczen and Searle).
Hopefully he doesn't finish near him, that would be embarrassing

Anyway, I'm just pissed that we won't see him in the big class next year.
Good luck and hopefully the 2013 JH shows up and does an ama national or two

I would have loved to see Ferrandis' face when getting this news. He wants to finish his GP campain with a title badly

Not shocked at all.

He clearly stated he wanted to "Win more titles" and this is the easy way. KTM certainly isn't going to say no because he will be a huge favorite to win as he has been for the past six seasons.

Honestly I fully expect him to race MX2 again in 2017 as ridiculous as that sounds. He has stated for years that he wanted to win four titles and beat Everts GP win total. He obviously has no reservations about beating those records the chicken shit way.

That will be EIGHT years in the age restricted MX2 class in which his main competition gets forced up or moves voluntarily up every year.

He obviously has zero drive to race MX1 and face the best riders in GP racing. It's not even a concern. Sad to say the least.

I think everyone saw this coming.

He keeps saying he has something to prove in MX2. Huh? Is there anyone in the world that doubts whether or not he's been the fastest MX2 rider in MXGP the last four years?

you mean like when Herlings was racing 85 cc and Searle and Musquin were racing MX2 ?? Musquin is now in his first year on big bike .........so ??? thats when very young talents move up very fast , Like Herlings did and now Prado ...

remember Searle started racing in 2006 in MX2 ? how manyy years did he stay in MX2 ?

I get the desire for him to race MXGP, but he will have little to no time testing the 450 and will be really unprepared. Remember he has had a bunch of very significant injuries in the last two years, give the kid a break

Well that kind of reminds me of Marc Marquez wanted to beat Rossi's titles, but at least he is in MotoGP or Bubba saying McGraths records were not doable but "booable" (not really remember how he said it) IMHO I think somehow when they start talking things like that or being over-confident some of the times things happen "bad luck" or whatever, it sounds crazy but I think this sport you have to be confident but maybe not over-confident?

I don't like the fact that he's racing mx2 again. But I hope for his sake he gets through healthy. IMHO he's a big kid and needs to get on the bigger bike. For me it almost seems like I'm watching TP199 on a 125 again. Got too big and almost looks like they were over riding the bike trying to make it go beyond its capabilities. That's just my opinion though.

Jeremy Martin, wins 2 outdoor titles, doesn't move up, and is a year older. Nobody bats an eyelid?

If I was KTM I'd have Herlings race MX2. Why pay two big money former world champions to race against each other for just one world championship?

But personally of course I'd like to see him in MXGP.

Must say I'm really disappointed. I'm afraid it's not really his decision rather than KTM "asking" him to stay down. Tough for a young kid to say no, money is probably good too.

If I was green, red, yellow or blue I would give him a call for a factory ride under his own tent. Act NOW.

I'v been thinking about this for awhile now.

My theory is that this is a KTM decision. They and Cairoli wan't to take the title back to KTM and they can't afford to have Febvre, Paulin or Desalle winning in 2016. They will give Cairoli everything he wan't and needs to be better than ever.

its weird , first the decision would be made after testing 350 and 450 bikes ...earlier this week he said , next week a meeting with KTM and Beirer for his future .... both didnt happen yet , but next day he announces he stays in MX2 ...

I believe the word you are looking for is "Stewable".

As for Herlings, bummer he is getting so much hate on here for staying another year, especially since we have no idea if it was his decision or KTM's.

haha Thank you! that's the word I was looking for Smile Anyways I think now they have so much pressure and they did that to theirselves.

Herlings now "must" win the title if he doesn't, it will be failure for him, ktm and fans all over the world for any reason (injurie, mechanical, or just get beat by anyone) He just put a target on his back IMO 'cause all the mx2 riders will be like c'mon already!

Marquez now is kind of "hated" for a lot of the riders in MotoGP and even more for Rossi who is the greatest rider in MotoGP ever, so he also put a target on his back for next year.

As for Bubba I believe he said that just after he won 2009 SX championship, well he just has not been the same since that year Sad

Anyways it will be a great and competitive year for SX and MX in USA and MXGP
