Per RacerX GP Report. Pretty bold statement from Herlings. "I don't think there is anyone in the world on our level at the moment." Referring to himself and Cairoli. Hmmm.

Editor warning* This thread may contain some very stinky bait, bite at your own risk and frustration.

Tbh I don't think there is anyone on Herlings level at the moment. Counting in AC was just him being nice.

They need each other to push them to limits.

Hard to argue, Tomac I feel like He is on par with Herlings and certainly Cairoli , not sure I could mention anyone else maybe Kenny when He gets a little more time coming back from his injuries.

exactly ..this is what he said

Herlings gave credit. “I don't think there is anyone on our level in the world at the moment,” he remarked. “He is a nine-time world champ for a reason. You can win one title with a bit of luck, but never nine! He is one of the best riders in the sport. He is still at the top at 32 and I don't think he has ridden better than he has now. Luckily I was able to pull it off today. I didn't want to ride the whole second moto in his roost.

Tomac and roczen are literally right there. If tomac stomps ac at glen helen, and ac = herlings, then therefore tomac > herlings

Hey, let's be honest.. he may be right.

Even if we win the MXDN on home soil and Tomac beats him, it won't do much to disprove that sentiment. What will probably happen is that JH will be the FMOTP for the next few years of his career until some future AMA star dethrones Tomac. The speed you would need for that is what will likely carry "rider X' to him being faster than Herlings or Herlings' successor(s).
And so we go back and forth between AMA riders and MXGP riders being the fastest for a while at a time.

Didn't Anderson smoke Herlings at MXoN a couple years ago? The same Anderson that hasn't even won an overall at the nationals yet?

Eli might be on their level in the states on his home tracks but to be the best in the world you would have to beat or run with those guys in the world championship on the variety of tracks in different countries, until he proves he can in MXGP, Herlings is right.

You mean when Herlings caught him but fell trying to make a pass? Yeah I'd call that smoking someone.. Plus since then he has taken big strides on hardpack tracks

I think we will see another level from Tomac once Kenny is up to speed. Hopefully we will see them push each other like Stewart and Carmichael did.

My eyeballs tell me he is probably right. It's like his bike is creating down force. Suspension looks half loaded even in flat corners. It's like he's road racing on dirt.
