For those of us old enough to remember Maggiora, it's a similar situation in reverse. Johnny O'Mara, riding the 125 for Team USA, was fired by Honda only a couple of days before the event. If anyone had the right to throw in the towel, it was O Show. But I remember an interview with David Bailey, Johnny's close friend and confidant, who shared in the disappointment. Both racers sat in David's hotel room with their heads down, when Johnny said "I'm not going to let off tomorrow. Not for a single second. I'm going to show Honda that they fired the wrong guy." And the rest is history.
James had an opportunity to show the MXoN managers that they made a mistake, that he was the best choice for Team USA. His results only solidified the decision to leave him off the team, and the subsequent "open letter" made it clear to everyone that James was not going to be a good fit with the rest of the team. He may have had fitness and/or bike set up issues, but that only proves that he arrived unprepared.
Any way you cut it, James does not deserve a spot on the MXoN team, and I'm surprised that he felt someone had promised to reserve a spot for him. If you were to have this conversation with James over a beer, I think the real story would differ from what we saw on-line. Because that guy is blazing fast, and a magnet for outside attention to our sport. I truly hope he and his camp can regroup, shake hands with the rest of the industry, and keep SX (and MX) moving forward.
1-3 races does not constitute a title in my book. Thats a little short of a "series" in my book. I'm sure Heath Voss will be pissed, but thats the facts.
What I don't like is when people try to tear other people down.
2. The deal with having him and his team believe that he had a shot at making the MXoN team and then announcing the team before the first moto..........That was fucked up and just wrong no matter how you look at it.

I can't wait for the next three rounds to happen.
Can Stewart rebound? Will Dungey wax Stewart?
Whoever wins this mini-war going into the 2011 Supercross Season will have tons of momentum!
Maybe he was in the running until practice that day???
Plus, James himself, said last year that only Outdoor riders should have a shot at it. Do you think it the race was out of the US again, that he'd even want to. I'm sure the people making the decision feel a little jaded, since he's told them "NO"...TWICE!
You should take into consideration that jbs himself stated that Shorty should go and he was only in it for the fans. I would think that statement would play a part in the AMA's decision.
Until Roger says he guarenteed him a spot or a chance i tend to disbelieve the stewart camp. Consider the two men we are talking about here..
Again, it's sad how some people here try to diminish James' accomplishments in this sport.

(for the record i am a steawrt fan!)
who was the rider who said that he would die trying to win a race..............................
who was the rider who used to be the fastest man on the planet.............
how the f@#k do we know someone told L&M that he had a shot .....he did have a shot like everyone else but didn't ride because he was hurt and lost his shot ,its all so simple really ......except trying to decipher the gagglef@#k of lies that him and LB layed down to fans and sponsors..............until proven otherwise ,james stewart used to be the fastest man on the planet

Like I said, he's turned them down twice...now, since it's in the US, he wants to be there?
just sayin.
Your post is a very weak defense of a guy who has gone seriously off the tracks in his career. If you can read, you will notice that my post starts out with the sentence, "Stewart's big bike record:"
So if you feel the need to put things in your response that have nothing to do with mine, that's fine. I do find it interesting that he has the most 125 wins but not the most 125 championships...I wonder why that is.
The "FIM World Supercross Championships".....ah yeah ok, if you say so.
He was NOT the 2006 or 2008 Motocross of Nations Champion, as that honor went to team USA. Stephen Everts won the 2006 MX1 individual championship. In 2008 Stewart was beaten by Pourcel's big brother for the MX1 individual title.
So really, since 2005, he has the 2008 AMA outdoor 450 title and the 2007 and 2009 supercross titles, which was exactly my point, despite your desperate attempt to obscure the truth.
