OK I know #1 is Jeff Ward and #95 is Doug Lange, but does anyone know who #899 is? This is from 1986.

Tony, what's up with that voicemail dude on Pulp calling you out? I can't imagine why anyone would have issues with you. WTF?

Where was the pic taken at? Looks like maybe just outside a stadium perhaps?

Is that Fox and Sinisalo gear clean or what? Love that simple Fox stuff from 86.

Not Mark Murphy.
Hard pack front tire heading onto a soft track, yes a real privateer.

He's looking at Wardy, thinking "that guy is sooooo badass. Wonder if he'll autograph my glove". Cool pic

Good one! Might that be Billy Frank? A young Danny Storbeck?

Great pic. 3 of the top gear brands from that era.

My first impression (after looking at Wardy's unprotected chin) was look how small those forks are.

Roll offs,its Daytona.

I think 85 was the year of the lightpole whoops ,those were fun, it really doesn't matter what tire, just that its roundish.

Awesome photo!! Wardy was the MAN! Huge fan of his during his whole career, and still remember how jacked I was as teenager finally getting to see him in person, and get his autograph at the '84 RedBud National! Even though he is probably considered one of the top 5 US MXers in history on everybody's list, I feel his accomplishments and ranking is a little overlooked from the big personality of RJ, and the super smooth style and speed of David Bailey of that era. To me, if there was a ever rider who should have originally been called the GOAT (prior to RC being called that), it should have been Jeff Ward. He was a winning sumbitch straight out of the womb...became the first real mini superstar, became the first rider to win all big bike pro titles (125, 250, 500 and Supercross), has 7 Mx of Nations titles while winning many motos, retires and wins in an Indy car race and almost the Indy 500 on his first try, and them comes back to bikes in his mid-40's and wins two Supermoto Championships, and many X-games gold metals!! Enough said....racer to the core.

How many people just pulled up the vault and started naming Yamaha riders from 86?

That Sinisalo gear was designed by the late, great Dave Dahm. He was a great guy.

Not to mention the original photographers . . .
I never take credit for shooting the picture and if I know who shot it I give credit on social media. This one was shot by Naoyuki Shibata

Serious question. Can someone explain to me how this works? I mean, should photographers really have an expectation of maintaining control or getting credit for their pics once they release them on the internet and/or they are widely circulated and freely available?

I guess both legally and as maybe just a matter of common courtesy?

I mean, if I re-post a pic that is freely available on social media and I am not profiting from the use of that pic, what is being violated?

I ask because I once posted a random pic of some rider, that was freely available on social media, here on Vital just as an illustration to the topic being discussed and the original photographer got upset that I was using his pic and/or didn't credit him. All I did was post it on a message board, not get rich selling it.

I usually can pull every single one of these things but not this one. I know for sure all the guesses are wrong so far!

Either last week's show or the one before that. Some dude left a voicemail in which (if memory serves) he said something to the effect "that douche Blazier". To his credit, Matthes stood up for you. It was an otherwise forgettable voicemail. Nothing worth losing sleep over, but somewhat shocking considering all you've done for the Moto fan community.
