With Windham now retired does this open the door for Metcalfe to return to GIECO and replace him on the 450, as his future is still up in the air with no contracts done?

Depends what they let Tomac do. If Tomac has his way, he'll be on that bike outdoors.

There's bound to be a ride open for him when outdoors come around though. Probably not Yosh Suzuki though, even with it most likely being available...

I believe he already has a contract for outdoors.

Nah, that didn't work out by the sounds of it

Fullnoise: You have said that you are going to sit out Supercross, there is still a long time before the Nationals get underway, have you officially signed for a team for the outdoors at the moment?

Metcalfe: Nah nothing is in place at the moment, right now it is just a day to day thing. For me personally the first aim is to get back to full health and regain my riding fitness.

That may take a little while, but the good thing is I am back on a bike and feeling pretty good. We will start from here and in a few months I will be ready to roll.

I would really like to see Tomac win the lites title outdoors....

I reckon he'll get it if he stays in that class... I don't get the rush tryin to move up...

Win titles, get paid, take your time, RV/Dunge/JS/JB/TC/DM/JG and Brayton are all pretty young still, the class is gonna be deep for a long time. No need to get up there straight away.

I like that Idea Crush and bring Metty in on the 450, he will be 100% ready for Outdoors. Tough would not mind seeing Tomac added to the mix outdoors in the 450 class.

But then the other side of me wants to see, Bagget, Tomac, Roczen and Musquin go head to head on 250Fs outdoors

its well known tomac wants to move up asap but surely somewhere amongst the team / sponsors will want to make the most of the legitimate chance of a 250 outdoor title? with barcia and wilson gone , bagget a question mark on how he will comeback from his present injury , that only leaves the pair of ktms of kroc and marv , imo hes the rest of his career for the 450 why not have a shot at an outdoor title and a single digit #

I think Metcalfe has been waiting for the call to fill in at Yosh Suzuki all along, it's a gamble but a pretty safe one.

I think Tomac should go ahead and move up. He's big enough, and he's consistent enough. I don't think it would be rushing, since he has the strength IMO to handle the 450.

it is rushing cause he needs to get a real national title before he moves up

I'm with Brocster on this one, bring in Tommy Hahn. Give him one last solid shot with a good team. Granted he's one of my homeboys but it sucks seeing him not racing where he belongs.

I reckon there'd easily be enough 450's in the Geico workshop for them to have Tomac and Metty on 450s with practice/spare bikes too. I'm pretty sure half of the 250 riders have a practice 450 anyway, I know Tomac had one last year (which he rides in kickstart 4) and Osbourne was riding a 2013 450 for the first few weeks in america before he started supercross training.

thing is will they let eli run 450 on east coast rounds, then return for final west rounds and outdoors on 250 considering how he did at monster cup, depending on points it could help out any hondas close in the points if the situation arouses

Yeah, I guess so. Bring on Metty. He's done way better on the Honda than the Zook.

He could podium the big class with a start right now.

There is no replacing a Kevin Windham. I would think Geico will forego their 450 effort for the west coast rounds, and possibly let Tomac ride the east Coast. It was a different situation with Barcia last year with Canard out at American Honda. Not sure of the extent American Honda assists Geico with salaries, parts, and machines for their team, and how all that works though.

I think Metty is a good guy and a great racer, but...I'm sure that GEICO will probably leave that spot open till next year, they have a pretty good rider in the 250 West that can fill that spot next year.
