Ever racing an amateur national. (Lake Whitney, Oak hill/Mosier Valley, World Mini, Ponca, LL, Mini Os)

I'm not saying "Win" an amateur national, I'm talking about racing an am national.

i guess you can say the foreign connection that been coming over for years and racing in the USA would/could answer that question..

It's a fair question, has anyone? I know that most of the people out there have at least raced Whitney or Mini Os once or twice, even if they got 20th in C class.

European/Australian/Foreign riders don't count.

I wish you would have made the thread title a little longer, then I might not have clicked on it.

Um, Bob Hannah

and Just a shot in the dark, but how about guy cooper?

Mickley Dymond?

Andy Jefferson?

I am sure there were plenty that would meet that criteria prior to 1982 or so.

How about in the last decade. Back in the 80s/90s am nationals weren't as hyped up.

John Dowd? I know he was late to the game, but I'm sorry I know nothing about his amateur career.

Perhaps I'll learn something...

I don't know if he ever raced any Amateur Nationals but I know Chris Blose opted for public School and not doing the Amateur races.

Hey, you asked the question dumbass.

What does "EVER" mean in your dictionary?

Are you asking because you have never ridden any of those AM events and you are hoping to be the first to come out of no where?

Good luck with that.

tommy hofmaster didn't race any of those trumped up races and made mains in SX and raced nationals. did fairly well at Arenacross's also.

didn't go to LL or national amatuer fluff til after he made a name for himself in arenacross. just raced good ole fashion local races around the midwest and did pretty well.....

in fact still does.

I've raced Mammoth and the US Open Amateur Day in Schoolboy. So I don't think I fit that category.

I think you have the perception that they weren't as hyped up because you weren't born yet.

I don't think Terry Finkle was involved in the LL fleecing. He qualified a few rounds outdoors.

There are ton's of guy's who made events without attending the youth races. Pugrabs from Ct? Tony Lorusso?

But I bet it will get less and less likely.

Pretty sure Decoster and Hannah never forged birth cert's down at the ranch.

Bobby M never spent no stinking 6 months building up his stocker for the ranch.

Internet/Magazines/Advertisement/Video coverage for amateur nationals is a lot more popular and seen more often nowadays than it was in the 80s. But apparently I know nothing.

I don't think John Dowd ever did Loretta Lynn's but Doug Henry did once in '89, I believe. It would have to likely be foreign riders who end up here, though Pourcel, Searle, Fonseca, Davalos and even Roczen have raced there as kids.

Congrats, the first step is admitting you have a problem. I'd be willing to bet just as many kids of my day who wanted dirt bikes knew who the flying freckle was as kids today know Adam Cianciarulo.
