I am unsure of the saying. Race on Sunday, buy on Monday? I'm not gonna lie I have really never felt this except when James switched from Yamaha to Suzuki.

Just wondering if anyone has Been watching racing lately and was sold on a bike becaus of it

Tomac makes we want another KX450, and am getting very itchy to go do it even though there is next to no where to ride anymore round here.

No, but results across the board make me feel steel frames are proving overall superior.

That said, I buy what I like.

10 laps in I wanted a KTM, but then Tomac was gaining so I wanted a KX. I am now convinced if I buy another Honda I'll fuck up my arm..have a love hate relationship with my YZ.

Kalib Russell made a point to show the 350 was competitive in the bush. Though it wasn't the first bike I bought, it might be the last...

And Sean Collier and his KX 500 make me want to buy a 500...

I think it influences more than you would know.

Maybe some are not influenced by who wins the races but many are. You buy a bike based on reviews, brand loyalty, test ride, dealer location or whatever else but deep down, it means something to most people to see your bike out there leading the pack even if it is the $100k version.

It may also have the opposite effect if a top tier rider can't adapt to new bike for whatever reason. The expensive salary and cost to support a racer who under performs could have a negative effect on bike sales. Take 2016 for example, you are 50/50 on KTM or Kawi, do you buy the bike that's winning or the bike Tomac can't get dialed? Suddenly now, Tomac makes that Kawi look so good, it might really help make up minds and a lot of the time, they might not realise that's why they bought bike a over bike b.

No, but Dungey legitimized the KTM Factory editions, made me think about buying one. But I'm still on Kawasaki. The new Honda looks pretty cool too.

My brother. He had a 350, I rode it, sold my 250SX and bought a 350.

When I was a kid I had to have a Suzuki because Pastrana rode one...had to have the hand guards on my 80 as well, because he had them.

I feel like as a kid, I was far more impressionable, but as an adult, I have never once purchased a single thing because a pro had it.

There must be something to it though, or else these teams are spending a metric ton of cash for nothing.

Andrew Short and Antonio Cairolli impressed me on the 350. I bought a 2014, didn't like it. Now I just picked a 2016 and really like it...

2000 kx250, 02 cr250, 17 crf450 not gonna lie bought based on how good pros either did or or looked on them at the monster energy cup this year. Bought a 14 yzf450 because it was mxas all time dyno HP #1 for a stock 450. And they said it was bulletproof. It is

Last bike I bought because of a rider was a Suzuki TM400 because it was just like Rogers bike (it didn't work out so well)

I decided that I like bikes that Roger has had a hand in developing if that counts. They just seem to fit me and work well. My favorite bikes have all had some DeCoster influence. If you had told me 15 years ago that I would be riding a KTM today, I wouldn't have believed you. I surely wouldn't have believed that almost half the field in a SX would be filled with Austrian product.

I actually forgot about roczen and the new Honda. That situation actually made me want a Honda again some. That being said I put more value into review. .

Also like others have said the Ktm has also sparked interest with the fe edition but again that bit becaus of riders.

The one thing that makes me want a bike more than no other is when I see a brand new two stroke in the pits. I just wish i had one. My side piece.

Kind of. The success of the latest YZ250F in racing at a pro and amateur level has made me want one.

Steinke makes me want a 125 again too.
