Hartranft's yellow plates

Does anyone know what the reason was behind Hartranft's yellow plates at Pala? I haven't studied the rulebook but I just thought a white background was mandatory. Looks cool though!

Been discussed a bit already. KTM release the TLD edition 2021 KTM 250 a few days before the national. Troy asked DC if he could run the yellow backgrounds a few months ago and DC approved. Troy loves Mammoth and the pros in Mammoth run yellow backgrounds.

Going forward the 250s should have white backgrounds and the 450s yellow. They are open bikes after all. Edit. Green plates on the 250s

I'm pretty sure 250s are supposed to have black backgrounds/white numbers and the opposite for 450s.

Weege and Langston discussed the Yellow plates during the 'cast of the racing .

I missed the exact reason why Hartranfts wanted them : well, I think I heard it being 'cool' ( as indeed it was with the 500 class, eons ago) but, they said it Had been approved, by, I think, DC, But Hartranfts received a 'warning' about it from officials. Weege mentioned something along the lines of one hand not knowing what the other was doing.........Whistling

Forget the plates how about Hartranft cutting the track at the season ending race. I feel like I have seen this happen before maybe in a go pro video?? 🥵

Yeah, 125 b LL racer. I changed from black to yellow, on my cr125,s. Looks a lot better, a yz would look great too. Yellow against that blue.
