By mid season ya all will be complaining about how boring the racing is. This seasons sx was the best in a long time in my opinion.

It's amazing that the smallest manufacturer is giving away just over $4 million dollars. Almost as much as the rest of them combined.

They're definitely doing something right.

So, they've added more purse money this year? They probably raised entry fee's to cover it x2.

For anyone wondering:

It’s not really 8.3m though is it. Riders with factory contracts are voided from contingency as their bonuses cover that and they technically don’t own the bikes they race.
So to earn the bulk of that you’d have to go buy a bike from a dealer then go beat the 20 factory guys that are getting paid to ride factory bikes with the best parts, trainers and programs money can buy.
Since only one rider, can finish in each position, each manufacturer only has to pay out a slither of that 1.3m or 1.1m.
It is basically marketing horseshit! May as well add another 10 zeros to it to make it sound better.

To put it in perspective. If you buy a KX450F and place 8th in an ama motocross race, you get $1000 in contingency. The same as they pay for winning the 65cc class at Lorettas.

If you buy a Kawasaki and win a 450 national or Supercross main event you get $15k. The chances of that happening are so slim why don’t they make it $15m and make it sound good. Who’s going to buy a KX450 and beat Eli Tomac and co. Could be 15 trillion on the line and there’s absolutely not a soul on the planet that could do it.

The only way a manufacturer could pay 100% of that contingency is if people who bought their bikes finished 1-40 in both classes at all 12 rounds. Assuming one manufacturer did that, then the other 6 would be off the hook for paying anything.

Of that $8.3m - I’d bet less than $400k gets paid out combined between 7 manufacturers.

Based off Kawasaki numbers. If everyone from 11th - 40th in both classes was riding a Kawasaki they purchased. Kawasaki would be on the hook for $318k of the $1.552m their contingency program offers.

why bullshit people?

Think of it this way though, Suzuki has almost $800k up for grabs to no more than 10 riders between both classes. So looking at it that way, it doesn't sound so bad.

Edit: Apparently the sarcasm wasn't detected since obviously the 10 guys riding them can't come close to getting all $800k....

People love a good lie....it doesnt matter what are the fact or consequences.....if it is a good lie, they will bealive it no problem.......its like when suzuki dropped rogers team and dungey because they were winning too much, they just had to lie about it and use james, who coulnt win anymore......prizemoney in todays professional racing is such a lie that only in amsrica it is still told !!!!!!!
