or how about that pic of him hitting a ramp on his bicycle about 12ft in the air fully crossed up oldschoool style and going to land it on flat ground.

It was a small black and white pic in one of the mags, think it was in an interview of him.

That dude was core, and as real as it gets.

I can't say that I know what he's up to, but I do know that he sold the track years ago.

Pretty sure the gorge jump was featured in Dirt Rider magazine dating back to '93, remember them showing a photo of the front wheel in an inset photo and it was done.

The photo of him sky high on the bmx was definitely in DIrt Bike. I have every single dirt bike mag from March '91, will have a look for it when I've got a chance and scan both photos in.

I've seen that gap. The jump itself wasn;t so bad.
The approach to it on the other hand, holy shit.

Last I heard he was buying some tricked out jeeps for offroading. Was also into the razors.

Guy lives about 10 minutes from me. He doesn't ride much any more but when he does it looks like he hasn't lost any speed. At the Endurocross in Guthrie last year he showed up and turned the fastest lap time in practice and then decided he was going to kill himself if he kept riding and parked it for the night. However he did mention coming out of retirement in a few years when he turns 50.

Glad to hear that Guy & Wanda are doing well. He's Kenny Bartram's uncle, as I recall.

I'll try to dig through my picture stash and find you some old school pictures of Guy with long hair when he beat the crap out of those poor Kawasakis. Have several of them from before he turned pro through the Team Suzuki days.

One of the fastest racers, to never win SX main.

I was at San Jose,Ca. Sx , the night Doug Dubach won in 1991, Guy Cooper led until 2-3 laps to go, when Jeff Matiasevich, who was in 2nd, tried a very aggressive block pass on Guy, that took both of them down.

Guy always told me that if they would let him ride the 125 supercross class he would kill them. His luck with the 250 indoors wasn't always pretty but always kept you on the edge of your seat.

He also almost won the one and only AMA supercross held in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma but once again fell just short and him and Chicken battled in that one too.

If memory serves me correctly he did win a supercross race overseas or at least an overall for the two day program.

Back before he turned pro watching him race a KX 500 at the local races was quite a site also.

I tried to get matthes to do a podcast with guy a year or so ago. He said it was coming soon and nothing ever did.

Guy and Wanda are doing well last I heard from them. They have a little girl who is probably around 4 by now and is super cute.

Guy sold Cooperland around 02 or so to a family from indiana. I think Reid was their last name. Then they sold the track to Kris Brown and he did an amazing job with it. Kris sold it a couple years back to a guy from Arkansas. I've heard rumor of Guy possibly getting the track back though, which would be the best thing that has happened there since Kris left. Hopefuly it's true!

Guy is still the man. Him and his brother, chuck both are still crazy fast on a track and maybe even faster In the trees.

My pops use to paint his helmets back in the day when he rode Supercross and outdoors, so we have known each other for quite awhile.

I still wanna hear a podcast! Matthes?? Maybe dmxs??
