I remember reading years ago that John bought Jason a factory bike, a Kawasaki 125 I think, I’m not sure if it’s true or not.

John bought an 18 wheeler for a Kawasaki team in the UK that Jason was riding for.

At Anaheim SX in '06 I saw a guy walking around, alone in a leather jacket with a Union Jack patch on the back. He was just casually strolling around in the pro pits checking things out. I was a mechanic back then and I $hit myself when I realized who it was. Yep, Jason Bonham. Not a single person recognized him. He came over and was just watching us work on our bikes. I asked him if he wanted a closer look and a tour of our pits. He was so humble and like a kid in the candy store. As a musician myself, I didn't bring up Zep or his dad but I was shaking. Haha. He told me he was in town as he was drumming for Foreinger. I politely said "oh wow, you're a drummer! That's cool!" Little did he know that Zep is what made me want to play every instrument known to man. He shook my hand and thanked me for the tour. I'll never forget that day.

Raced with Jason as a schoolboy back in the 70's , he was a decent rider, but he stayed in the Amateur ranks when he finshed as a schoolboy, and drifted away from the sport , still a fan, , was on RDL a while back.. pops on to some of our FB groups occasionally.

Despite the money they had, they didnt throw $$ at it for the sake of it, Bonzo sponsored a meeting where there were teams with 1 rider per class, 5 classes, and the team with 75% of the highest score over 2 days , won a bike each..

We didnt get it , our best bloke broke his arm in practice.

Not got a picture of the car/bike- but do recall when Bonzo and Jason arrived at National championship final in I think 1978-80- cannot quite remember the year. Yes bike was in the back/ trunk of a brown Rolls Royce- wheels pokin out of the trunk! Was abit of a mudder and Roller was all messy with mud!

My Dad and other racing friends chatted and I think maybe also marshalled with John Bonham at that race and said he was a really nice man and very friendly. They did not know he was a rock star at the time and said he seemed slightly unusual (to the average 1980's moto dads I guess, arriving in a Rolls Royce etc) but was super nice to speak with!

As many recall Jason was a damn good rider- but many people do not realise how fast he really was- he actually nearly won the youth British ACU National championship- think was 1980-- came 2nd! Almost won it.

Also John Bonham helped set up the 'Team Green' program in those times, alongside Alec Wright- that bred future stars like Paul Malin and Jamie Dobb amongst others.

Great memories of those times.

Yes- was true- Jason did a parade lap on that bike at the Farleigh 500 GP- think was 1979- think it may have actually been water cooled and tricked out, before water cooling started to happen stock. Cannot quite remember but it certainly was trick. Also it may have been a sleeved down 125 to 100cc, cannot remember its exact tech spec but do remember the bike and the GP parade lap.
