Okay so I'm about to put new grips on my bike but I don't want to use grip glue because it's such a pain in the ass to clean up is there something else I can use as an alternative? I've heard of pro teams using hair spray/spray pain but don't know the truth behind it

I use super glue, although its somewhat tricky since the grip bonds almost instantly.

Hairspray, spray paint or gasoline are the options I've always heard. I always use grip glue though. Just put a little in the grip and slide it on.

You can go completely without glue and just safety wire the grip if you want, too.

Now I have used Gas and tie wire and never had a problem. But the new ODI stuff, you cannot go wrong!

Normally I use tie wire but since I've been using the Pro-Taper Pillow top grips I haven't had to use any thing. Just spit in them and slip them on. Cool .

I use hairspray, the kind from a pump bottle. The extra hold stuff seems to work good, plus three runs of safety wire.

I add a long spray of break cleaner in the grip , shake it out and slide the grip on, then wire it in 3 spots, let it sit over night and go ride

Same here.

Never had grips slip this way.

I use a little bit of spray tack just because that's what I have in my garage Laughing

Works fine though. I actually like my grips to move around a little bit so lock-ons are not for me.

I actually just recently one a pair of these but have not put them on my bike yet since its completely disassembled at the moment. My first impression is that the feel REALLY hard, how do you like the feel of the grips?

Clear spray paint. Works just as good as any grip glue I have ever used and is painfully cheap when considering the use you can get out of a single can. Never used safety wire and never will.

Rode them on my 125 I liked them the only complain I had was the left Grip.
I used a Renthal Twin Wall and I could never get it tight enough not to spin a little.

You don't feel it but after a day of riding I had to readjust the left grip.
Throttle is usually a no brainer.

What I like is the same diameter thought I could not realize it but I could.
Felt different to the previous Grips.

Once mounted right they feel great, let the white grip point forward that's it.

For what it's worth:

The ODI lock-ons are awesome. If you want something with slightly bigger diameter, try the Emig lock-ons. Rode with mine the last two weekends and no twist, not wires, no problems and took absolutely no time to install. Even on the throttle side.

As for them being "hard", I didn't notice and I have 1/2 waffle on mine. Been running them on my MTB bike and stoked when I found they made them for MX.

Worth the money for sure.

Spray paint and wire, cheap, simple and effective. Easy clean up if you need to replace grips
