Ok folks got a question for ya. I’ve been riding a lot recently and picking up speed over the last few months, but I noticed my hands are hurting a lot more than usual when I ride now.

I’m aware I need to squeeze more with my legs, don’t hold on so tight, etc. I’ve heard that all of that and I’m working on it! laughing

Anyways, is there a certain grip you guys have found to help with that? I was thinking a little bit of a bigger grip like the pro taper pillow tops might help. Just curious to see what you guys do to help!

One other thing I’ll mention too, is that I notice the pain even more on hard landings or flat landings. That’s what made me think it was time for some softer or better grips.

|

You don’t need grips. Take em off, bro

|

6/10/2018 8:16 PM

I'm running ODI mx rogue grips. They are thicker and fairly soft. They are the only grips I have ever used that stop me getting blisters. I have also noticed they add cushioning on big landings
The extra thickness takes some getting used to but I like them now.
I have tried all different types and brands of grips over 20 years and these are the best I have used

I can’t believe that renthal has not came out with lock on grips. If we are talking about grips

|

6/10/2018 8:24 PM

There are a few that are really good, but I always buy PT pillow grips for my YZ. They just feel right. They don't last the longest, but worth it for this guy. Hands cramp less and actually help loosen my grip up without feeling like I am falling off.

Pro taper pillotopw grip lites, wear quicker but I can't complain, on my 3rd-4th set.

mtb guys are going back to push ons (away from lock ons) to get more feel and less hand cramping.

Domino A260 or Pro Taper Pillowtops. I don't have really rough hands as I'm a keyboard pecker. Both of these grips keep my hands relatively unscathed through 2-3hr hare scramble races.

OURY , they are full waffle and very easy on the hands. Otherwise, in my opinion, stick to a full or half waffle. I do love the pillow tops, but they aren’t near as tacky.

Grips are cheap. Buy them and try them out. Tell what you think.

1. Rogue ODI
2. PT pillow
3. Tusk half waffle (larger than most)

Nobody ever told me, I found out for myself. You've got to believe in foolish miracles. It's not how you play the game, it's if you win or lose. You can choose. Don't confuse. Win or lose. It's up to you!

Another for pt pillows. They seem like the most popular in the thread as well

Renthal Soft 1/2 Waffle! You need glue and safety wire and they tear immediately when they touch the ground but they are the best/ most comfy
However, I switched to ODI lock-ons because I was tired of change grips after every ride.

Ive had the same kevlars for the past year and a half 50 hours id say. Still good. Many falls & the ends are still not ripped. If anything my TLD gloves are wearing out faster than the grips.

ODI V2 half waffle. I don’t use squishy pillow top grips because it makes me hold on tighter. I ran Renthal soft half waffle for years but got tired of gluing grips. The ODI lock ons feel the same to me but don’t slip.

Another vote for ODI rogue lock on. Best grips I've ever owned.

I have small hands and I was using pillow tops and I had really bad arm pump and my grip was shit after a moto. I switched to Renthal Softs (no waflle) and they made a really big difference.
