I've always meant to post this - this is one of my dad's old-school riding buddies (who he still rides with today) taken in the late 60s? (right?).

Tell me this isn't one of the coolest moto photos you've seen. Shirt open, open face helmet and throttle to the stop.

This is Gary Milnes from rural Illinois, photo taken by Tom Montgomery. The cool thing is, all of these guys still ride together quite a bit, and I get the opportunity to meet up with them at our annual trip to Taylor Park in Colorado. And they all are still pretty damn fast.

Probably 72 or later, I think that's a 72 DT or RT(250 or 360). Love the jersey.

And he's running Pro Tapers. Wink

He was known for being a brute animal - I'm guessing he's just looking at the next guy he was going to plow over.

MX250, mx version of the DT250 but a far step behind the YZ250 that came out in 1974

It was called the DT2-MX. Evolved into the MX, then the YZ. At one point both the MX and the YZ were in Yamaha's line up.

Awesome photo.

I started out on a Yamaha MX100. It was a good 1st bike. They were all white back then. A year later I moved up to a YZ80.

Back then you had to "grow" your face protection! Doesn't look like they were taping nipples back then either...least not the left one's...lol.

reminds me of the first time I raced vet-B.

I pull up to the line next to this dude who looked similar to the above cat. His buddy was holding his bike while he smoked a cig staring down the first turn. He glared at me while I shook a bit in my boots. Luckily, my 500 got the start and I didn't have to worry about him until the 2nd moto. Laughing

I have no idea who is in this pic, but it sure fits this thread. It was on a disc of photos someone gave me. The dude on the white framed orange glassed Montesa Cappra is in the zone. The old DT/MX Yamaha has style for miles.Good times for sure.

Bumping this thread because some the OG's around here should post some personal shots they have laying around. It seems like it would have been such a cool time to be young.

.......Jim, I knew you could could clear up any history as far as time lines and what bikes.

This thread could be HOF material with a few more of these pics. The next time I'm at my parents I'll try to dig up some of his oldies and add to this.
Thanks for the great photos fellas.
