If I still lived in the area, I would do whatever it took to ride there.... I drooled every time I went by a track off of 88 near Oneonta, track was massive and as natural and perfect you could get.
I was lucky enough to ride that once, wish I could find the vid. It was awesome...

A friend lays out a track in his farm pastures each fall. It’s in the rolling foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and those days are most fun I’ve ever had as an adult on a dirt bike.

May head over to Claverack, NY this Sunday...they only run 4 times a year and the Aug race is the best as the track will be covered with 2ft tall grass. Truly epic old school stuff.

RedBud has one in October as well. Called the Throttle Jockey Grass Race. It uses the pro start and ski jump and everything else is in the grass field to the right of the main track. Think it’s in it’s like 30th year. Had all kinds of pros show up over the years. Stanton, LaRocco, DeHoop just to name a few.

Bet it’s a lot softer if you eat shit, lol
You would think so but it's not.
It's slippery too. The sad thing is I spend about the same amount of hours in the seat of my lawn mower as the seat of my bike and its 90 minutes from home.

I'm a 50+ woods rider so to me this is awesome. Plus there is a couple miles of single track in the woods.

I'll say awesome over sad.

I always make a point of letting grass grow over my track several times a year and then disc it up to get more organic material tilled into the dirt. Otherwise, if you're constantly riding on and discing up topsoil, it'll eventually get silty and turn to crap. Riding on grass is ok but it can be a bit slick.

There is definitely something special about riding on grass. Maybe it's the feeling it gives you of being the first to ride it even though you're not. It can be tricky, traction can go away in an instant. Especially under breaking.

Where we used to live there was a guy that had built a sweet track like this and it was grassed over. I thought it was awesome it didn't erode like a normal track. I think for a backyard track it's the way to go, just mow it.

If you are serious something could be arranged. Jumps aren't huge but the weeds do make them look smaller. Biggest jump is only a 80' table...

I passed along the other guys info today and they seem receptive to people riding. Give me some contact info and I will pass it on too.

Lack of erosion is nice. Another plus is you can ride when it would normally be too dusty.
