I was just browsing through the surfercross photos when i came across one of Grant Langston, I remember he won an outdoor title then just dropped off the radar because of an eye problem? I'm just wondering what he is up to now and if he is able to ride, why isn't he racing?

He was team manager for Langston KTM Racing last year, they folded after supercross, had some financial issues and I believe their rig also got stolen.

that's a shame, so i presume he sorted out his eye problem then?

I think he had melanoma in his eye which limited his vision. You can ride with limited vision and even just one eye but not on a competitive level. Don't know the state he's in now but he looks healthy. He's 31 years old and retired three years ago so most certainly not a comeback going on. He does some racing though, always in the surfercross and some twmx races.

He raced again after getting the eye issue sorted for JLaw Racing in '10. He had some limited success too before a massive digger at Daytona that pretty much sent him into another retirement.

that wreck was nasty!

off topic, but what was Jlaw racing? god i hope Jason Lawrence didn't have his own team at some stage.... for the record i was really into mx untill about 2008, then stopped following only till recently.

Ahh that explains it.

Why yes, JLaw Racing was Jason Lawrence Racing. He fielded a legit team for a couple years after Yamaha of Troy collapsed. Major backing from Monster, Boost Mobile, and AM/PM. He also had Nick Wey and Sean Hamblin under the tent at one point.











As a side note, I really love how Jennifer Lawrence comes up with I google JLaw Racing.

I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure Langston was commentating some/all arenacross races on Speed last year. It sure sounded like him anyway.

He was also an instructor at the RCU at Red Bud.
