That guy should get the hard charger award every race. He rides hungry every lap, even during the timing sessions. Every moment seems to be a race to him. He kinda reminds me of a younger RC. I can't figure out where he loses the couple seconds to Stewart. It's not impossible for someone to do it. RC proved it year after year that someone can be faster than the Stew. Maybe Alessi can find it.

Oh, the night race thing was a great idea, from a fan's point of view. The weather was perfect. The lighting was awesome. For other places that have lower humidity, it works great.

And, it was nice to meet txmxer, his brother Mark, and Mark's son Caleb. Good people!

How was the crowd bigger / smaller? I agree with you about 800.

he is losing time getting into the turns, he seems to be a little more calculated getting into the turns, so his exits are a little slower as well.

maybe the braking bumps getting in are making him feel out of control when he wicks it up more.

James seems to handle those by throwing the bike around more.

I think the crowd was a bit smaller. The first year (2005?) was pretty packed, from what I remember. It's a shame, if the crowd was smaller. The format was great for a casual fan, including being able to get home and still have a Sunday. For the hard core fan, you still got the local qualifying and all practice on Friday.

Oh, I should add that the WMA races were fantastic. Fiolek is one fast young lady! Heck, all are, but Fiolek is the one the competition's going to have to chase.

When James was reeling in Mike he was gaining time doing some major scrubbing, Mike was too but James is the master at using that to gain time.

Maybe Mike can pick it up in those corners, but it's gonna be tough, no doubt. Right now, he's the only one that shows the aggression to do it. Either that KTM was killing him in the Lites, or Villo's gonna have the speed to challenge Stew (if his transition to the big bores is proportional to his speed in the Lites).

I wonder if they fixed the lighting. I'm watching the TiVo'd broadcast now, and apparently the riders had complaints about the shadows on Friday.

Hey Rat, that's right. Cygnus told me you were coming. I completely forgot you were there. That was even better than having to worry about seeing your ugly mug!

LOL, Stewart was toying with him, then walked off and left him at will, MA was on the edge. JS rode smart learned where the shadows were, then hauled ass and had more left. It's not even close keep dreaming.

I think you better keep dreaming. Alessi was more under control than Stewart through my eyes and I have pretty good vision.

I was never aan Alessi fan ( Mike anyway) but he really seems to have matured on and off the track . He may not have Stewarts speed but he leaves it all on the track trying and doesnt submit. cant ask for more than that.

he's the 2nd fastest rider in the world.

Look at the laptimes, RC Had him covered 90% of the time.

Mikey is fast, and he will figure it out. Riding that hard, you only get better.

I saw James pulling away on the straights, like he was going about 2 or 3mph faster. He just went right around Alessi on a straight like he was almost riding a gear higher or just had more speed.

This section right here is the reason James is faster. I was standing right there( The good looking guy with the baby blue hat on right above James next to the post.) James and Villo would rail the outside of the turn leading up to this jump then just scrub huge both were making huge time on it. Everyone else would jump a step up to the inside hit all the braking bumps then jump it. It was a 2 turn 2 jump section were James and Villo made everyone look slow through it.

And isnt that what you want from a rider? I was really impressed with Mike at High Point.
Face it....there may never be another rider with the speed of both RC and JS, but it certainly doesnt mean these kids wont stop trying!

Cool pic. That was the jump down into the pit, right?

I noticed one thing about Villo vs. the other guys in his class. He'd come off the tabletop at the very top of the track (the one right in front of the bleachers), and he wouldn't let off the throttle the entire downhill until he got to that small 180 degree turn. Nobody else in his class would do that. And, he'd do it every lap.

yup RV and JBS are in a class by themselves... its just up to the other guys to capitalize on a mistake made by them , other than that even 110% isnt enough against them 2....

I think Dani is hot...does that count? I have always been an Alessi fan, I don't have the hots for him like you however. I was just stating facts, he's an amazing rider and so far has the best chance at the title if JS throws it away. Now as fars as speed goes, I'll stick with my previous post.
