I have been thinking about getting a 300 2 stroke for years. I finally committed to a 2018 Gasgas EC300.

Thanks guys, she's pretty sexy. Limited time on her at this point, so far I have noticed it shifts smooth as silk, clutch pull is as light as any bike I have ever felt, quiet for a 2 stroke, very linear power delivery, standard jetting is rich, build quality is good and it is a very tall bike. I am 5' 10" and I am on tip toes when sitting still on the bike. It has started first kick every time.

I will strip it for greasing and set up this weekend. Might move the bar mounts into the forward mounting position. Usual lever changes and tinkering...
Will look at rejetting soon too...

I had one a few years back for some enduro riding in the UK, including 3 hours getting hammered across sand dunes at the Weston Beach Race. The biggest thing I noticed about it was the traction; on slippery slopes it would get grip and keep going when my friends bikes would spin the rear wheel and grind to a halt. First gear also seemed to go on forever. It was damn reliable too considering what I did to it.

Smoker with a plate from the factory? Around here, DHS would pick you up in the middle of the night and take you to Guantanamo if you had such a thing.

Good motorcycle, there have been some with problems with the electric start, solved in warranty, otherwise that bike works very well, powerful, manageable, good suspensions.

The electric start issue is real, already experiencing it. The fix is heavier gauge positive and earth cables. Will get onto it tomorrow and let you know my result. I even made them fit the warranty earth cable before i picked it up, didnt make a difference. I will go over that whole system tomorrow. It is also possible that the lithium ion battery wasnt fully charged before i used it. I have only ridden it a few short bursts, from dealer to home around 30 minutes, to work and back which is only 10 minutes from my home so it may not be getting the charge time it needs. Either way, the fix has been documented on the gasgas forums and seems to be a solid solution.

They make an XC version. The hot one was the Enduro GP edition with the upgraded KYB's, but they only brought 32 of them into the states, I think there is still one at a dealer in Colorado..
