Anyone using one for moto. I have a couple gopro's for my son, I have and old hero 2 I could trade in for 100 bucks off and that still leaves me with a Session 4 and a Session 5.

Im worried about scratching the lens, but the stability stuff looks great.

I have one the stability thing is cool, I got the case for it for rocks and roost, I turned off the stability feature by accident once and it was hard to watch haha

Stability is good, not so much though when mounted to a chesty riding mountain bikes. Shot completely on the Go Pro 8, with a bunch of editing/cutting out shakey bits:

I wear my 8 without a case riding. I bought a glass screen protector kit off amazon. It’s done great so far. The stability makes the camera..

Like some have said, the stabilization is worth it. I went from a 2 to a 7 and it was night and day better.

I have the 8 too, incredible camera. Stabilisation is amazing! I just use the lens and screen protector kit to protect it from rocks

Look for a way to mount it to the mouth vent on your helmet. Your head will help the stability for the most part. I know Cudby uses one...maybe scan through his IG feed for it. Others have used zipties as well with great success.

Have fun filming.

A buddy of mine brought a Hero7 to Moab with us on an MTB trip a year ago and it was unbelievably good. I saw footage from the 8, and I think they went too far with the stabilization, however.

I vote for an under-visor mount.

Check your settings.. using a chest mount on a very very rough track and it was very minimal shake. Need to learn how to format to upload 4K vid to YouTube tho.

Accessories are starting to come in.
Decided that I'm just going to give the session 4 to one of my sons friends that doesn't have one, but wants one.

Any one need some old hero 2 accessories. Couple old batteries, two wall chargers, and a case, free if you pay shipping.

The sound quality (wind noise) still seems terrible on these compared to the old Hero 3 and Hero 4.

I currently have a Hero 5 and have the same terrible wind sound (maybe a bit worse).
I cut up a gym sock to put over the camera with a rubber band
They sell foam wind covers too.

It helps clear up the sound quality a ton in the fast sections.

That video I was playing with settings. Had the wind noise turned off. When it’s on it’s much less noticeable. Comparison to older models I'm unsure. Had a 6 and now 8.

I’m new to GoPro but I have a pair of hero8’s. Pretty dang impressed. Multiple levels of hypersmooth available (depends on settings). What now drives me nuts is how far YouTube and iMovie compresses the living crap out of your videos. There is so much more to making interesting videos than just the camera. I’ve gotten riding videos with my 4yr old that are absolutely priceless though provided YouTube will be around in 20 years. I don’t even mess with anything other than 1080p 30fps high bitrate. 2.7 and 4K videos are space hogs and the payoff of YT and FB destroying it do not match

Try the official Go Pro chest mount. I finally broke down and paid the $50 for one...its awesome. Gives a very good perspective on what your arms and legs go through when the track gets rough.
