This is something really rare, a 2 wheel drive Yamaha WR450f. Actually called the WR450F 2Trac. Idk how many of these that was produced but I do remember that they were kinda pricey when they were available.

Those are the best looking KTM's to date.

And if the rider would have maintained his bike he would have gotten a new frame for free.

I think that first bike, the Highland, they were gonna make in Oklahoma, but the executives of the company died in a general aviation crash.

That bike was so close to being really good looking. What's worse is the 80 model got uglier. But, combine a few parts from each and you have a really good looking 79 model. A simple frame mod, add a 250 front fender, 21 inch front wheel, 80 125 seat, either 79 or 80 side panels to your taste and get the shocks in a position where they actually work. Add good forks, shocks and swingarm if you actually want to ride it....Laughing

Man, I loved my Bieffe helmets. Over the years, I had 3 of the blue BX-6 ones. I worked my ass off to get every one of them. I remember the first one. It costed $125 plus shipping from Bob's Cycle Supply. I got paid $8 a yard and would find some odds and end shit. It wasn't hard finding work. It was hard finding people that would pay you for it.

Yup, absolutely awful. Wasn't it because they were having to run some absurd rake angle or something? I had to root for my hometown hero Josh Hill in secret with that big erection of a front end going on.

The 92 RM 80 was a great bike. Several years of "almost" finally came together in that model. The graphics and seat were bad, but I cut the purple and pink away on the shroud, removed the number plate and side panel graphics, and went with an aftermarket seat.

I have no idea what you guys are talking about here BUT those we the last great looking Yamaha's. It would have cost them less and been more successful in my opinion had they just stayed the course.

1981 was a great year! Rising rate, single shock rear suspension and liquid cooling became industry standards. But it may be most remembered as the year of weird front number plates!

Looks like some sort of enduro bike that Yamaha with the headlight front number plate.

Some of these bikes the manufacturers must look back at and cringe.

(Pic is a 605 maybe) but I owned a similar ATK 406 for a time. Opposite chain drive. Anti-Tension Chain Torque system. Rear brake disc wasn't on the wheel, but on the counter shaft by the rear brake pedal . Air intake/filter was up front below the tank on the left side. The bike looked cool and was operationally trick, but very unreliable.
