Leonardtown and St. Mary's City are both within 20-30 minutes of the track and have a few hotels as well as restaurants.

If you have bikes with you, don't even drive through Waldorf.

Avoid the city and surrounding areas at all costs after dusk. Me and my Girlfriend pulled over in woodlawn off of 695 one evening to get gas on the way home from budds, and before I opened the door to my gas cap we had a car full of guys circling us asking if we "party."

(Edit: only relevant for those coming from the north)

Several new hotels opened in Prince Fredrick, MD. About 20 miles from the track. They all less than 5 years old so there is not a bad one. It's also the opposite direction from the majority of the traffic.

Solomons Island is nice, but you'll probably pay a little more being on the water. The Tiki Bar is closed. The owner died and the wife didn't want to deal with it. It's been for sale, but a former partner is claiming he still has part ownership. It will be tied up in the courts for years and may never reopen

Agreed on staying at the Hilton or holiday inn on Solomon’s. Bad news about tiki bar though - the owner passed away unexpectedly and the didn’t open this year...it’s currently up for sale. Sucks!

I cannot think of a single reason to ever step foot in woodlawn if you abide by the law and enjoy living
