today....today is a very sad day in mx history. can't believe it....danny is gone.at hangtown last year danny wasn't feeling well and me and bro cheered him up and watched the races with danny in the gimp section...i will always remember that day.
This is my favorite picture of all time.. If a regular picture says1000 words this picture says 10,000 words. Love it. Thanks for posting. That is now my screen saver on my computer and will be til this computer doesn't work anymore. The looks by the fans in the back round is priceless too.
As a young man I went to Danny's first European race at Wakes Colne in England,
He jumped further and higher than anyone had ever seen,
Out of the bomb hole, at eye level with Lofty Lucas he landed past the next bend and was gone,
I pushed my way to the front of the crowds in the pits between moto's and shook his hand,
He looked me straight in the eye's and had a very strong grip (no surprise their !).
I just wanted to share this,
rest easy Danny, and thank you.

even my wife, who is at the other end of the motohead spectrum, knows who Magoo is
she watched "The Story..." DVD with me when I got it, and to this day she remembers "If you don't crash sometimes, you ain't going fast enough"
What a terrible piece of news to wake up to. A few weeks ago you had it right, FTE: What Magoo did at the '82 Motocross and Trophee des Nations is probably the single most dominant performance in the history of motocross. Danny was immortalized at that moment for many of us motocross fans.... What happened from 1985 on, with his accident and the pain he was forced to endure for the rest of his life was just tragic and sad.
Godspeed, Magoo.
Godspeed Magoo
RIP Magoo
If it all the same to you guys, this is the way I would like to remember Danny.

Hits this old Nor cal boy hard. Magoo made MX special.
Winning, on the bike backward, pulling the throttle cable and working the clutch.
One of a kind.
