Markelo, 1986. Probably triple clamps. The SR factory triple clamps looked cool but were weak.

Triple clamps: making bike manufacturers look like sh*t since forever.

Georges was nearly paralyzed in a training accident in Dubai in early 2000s I believe. He was diagnosed with Leukemia shortly thereafter. Died in 2012.

Let's all take a moment to marvel at Georges massive nutsack:

My painting of Georges famous leap. Commissioned by Alan Bott who then decided to present the original to George's at his home in Belgium.

"In 2007 Jobe was paralyzed while training young riders in Dubai. After four years of intense rehabilitation, he recovered his strength and became able to walk and ride his bicycle again. However, in 2011 he was diagnosed with leukemia. Jobe died from his illness in Brussels on 19 December 2012 at the age of 51." -Wiki

I didn't know they used people as tough blocks back then.

BITD Belgian, Dutch and French fans were renouned for marking the edge of the track with their own bodies.
An old trick was to lift theposts and ropes alongside a deep rutted mudhole. When their favourite rider approached they would simply move back a couple of feet offering up a clean line around obstacle, returning once he had passed!
