I think any bike looks better with black rims and some black accents. It just makes it look "tough" or aggressive or something. But I do not like the whole bike black. Last years zooks were my favorite as far as mixture goes for a stock bike. Only down fall of black rims is that you have to be fukin Houdini to change a tire without scratching them to hell. Well for me anyway LaughingSilly

IMO, if done right, black plastics can make a bike look very good and creative.

I did it for a few simple reasons. Number one is I hate when colors don't match. I didn't want my seat to be one color green, my plastics be a different shade and my graphics a different shade. Secondly I think the black helps the graphics to pop. Just makes everything bolder.

All black plastics

I used a lot of black on my old RMZ, but I really liked the way it turned out. A matter of taste though, maybe I have a core-bro-taste!

After reading and observing the examples in this thread, I want to add that I don't dislike black. It absolutely accents, underlines, and makes color (colour for the rest of the english speaking world) pop.

The well done all black bikes ( examples cited by: jbecker72, lynch, slothy, jprice07, sean-bassett) look good. At least in the pits. YZ302, good find. It probably is Kawi's fault. I did not like the black fendered Kawasaki's in '76 either. The '74 and '75 had white fenders and looked better. In my opinion.

At one time I worked for a shop that was owned by car racing guy. (old school Kansas dirt track stuff, not big time NASCAR, INDY, Trophy truck type stuff) I remember him talking about superstitions and color in the 4-wheeled racing world. And that black was considered bad luck. No one would paint their cars black because of it.

Not that anyone cares, but I think on a dirt bike fenders should be white or match the color of the tank. I prefer silver rims, but black rims (rimmage if you are Mr Rupert X) look good. The lines of the bike should be clean and simple. Go look at the 2004 YZ250, Chad Reed thread for an example. Less is more.

Shit that's sexy. So are the same generation Suzukis with gold rims and the triple blue accent colors.

Lol and some will say that once you go white you know it's right.

If you keep white plastic clean it doesn't show the scuff marks as much. Same thing if you go down the white crease marks aren't as obvious.

I say to each their own.

The great thing about it all is that if you don't like it don't buy it and if you do then buy it. Simple as that really.

I think it's a Crusty/Mulisha thing. Not my cup of tea but each to their own.

I don’t mind black as an accent color but black plastics I’ve never liked. I like color on my bikes. Black wheels are ok.

That's exactly what I said in the kick ass two stroke thread lol. Most annoying thing about that bike is that the bar pad is on backwards.

Other than that I like it.

Blacked-out bikes remind me of those cheesy 80s action movies where the bad guys bikes were blacked-out.

This

The "all blacked out" look is very '90s, as stated by my younger bro from Mormonville.

x1000 they are done to death today. love colored rims and silver rims. black rims are nice on some bikes but it's a cancer today, every bike gets them whether they need them or not

What else grates is pluralizing plastic when talking of multiple pieces. Some words are not meant to be pluralized and plastic is one of them.
