What's your goal when you buy a bike, and then when you set it up?

Wide Ratio, semi wide, close ratio?

How many gears?

How do you set up the sprockets?

Obviously intended usage plays a huge factor, and whether your bike has limited or multi purposes.

I keep it stock unless I feel the gearing absolutely needs to be changed.

Bike size also plays a large role. I set up my 250f so 3rd and 4th are most usable on the tracks I ride. I prefer less shifting if possible.

Add one to the front. Mostly ride desert. At the moment I’m running down one in the rear, and it’s decent. Probably tops out around 75ish

I'm a gear it up guy. That happens to be stock on my bike 15/48 6sp wide ratio. The 480 with heavy flywheel effect makes it possible. Tried lower gearing in lap time test and the lower I went the slower I got. Great in tight single track and tops 100mph.

Loved my Montesa 360 2t 4spd. WR.
