Gear Bag Recommendations

Edited Date/Time 9/12/2018 11:36am
Right now I have a bag that I can fit all my gear in except my helmet but its just an old duffle bag with broken zippers. Finally considering an actual gear bag. Don’t want to spend a ton (Sub $150). What do you guys use and recommend? I’m highly considering the Acerbis X-Trip because I can get it at a discount for $100. And reviews on that bag in particular?

I'm not much help either. Ogio 9800 here as well. Its the end all to gear bags but very pricey.

looks like I can get a decent discount on the Ogio as well. $168.. That's tempting

My fiance upgraded me from an old duffle bag to a thor circuit gear bag about 3 years ago. I can't compare to it to other bags but I've been happy so far. I can fit boots, helmet, chest protector, 3 goggles, and 2 or 3 sets of gear, but it is a bit of a squeeze. It has held up well but I dont ride as much as others maybe 15 times a year.

if its that close to your budget of $150 there's no question. Pull the trigger!

I've had two 9800s, my original one from probably 2005 or so is still going strong except I had to replace the wheels (easy) and its now used more as a luggage bag for trips. Got the updated version about 4 years ago and for moto they have no comparison IMO.

I have an EVS gear bag https://www.evs-sports.com/collections/gear-bags/products/evs-freighter…. Great bang for the buck.

Pro's
-Separate compartment for boots
- I can fit all my gear including knee braces, neck brace, google case 2 sets of gear and chest pro
- Wheels and extension handle for easy transport
-Fits my size 12 boots
-biggest gear bag I have ever owned

Con's
-Loading must be done in a specific order. Boots first to get everything to fit
-Cable zipper loops don't last long. None of the regular zipper tabs have broken
- After 5 years of use a handle the front grab handle is starting to tear.
-Venting would be nice but you can just unzip it.

Im an Ogio 9800 owner. Im on my second one. Its a great gear bag because its built luggage style with the retractable handle and smooth roller wheels. has a nice composite back to it as well. Plenty of compartments and space.

Im able to fit my boots, chest protector, tool pack, all my gear into it. In the past I shoe horned my helmet in there too but it was just too tight.

The biggest negative with the Ogio 9800 is definitely the main zipper. its weak, its fragile, and it doesnt last.

Plenty of space, cheap, use lid to stand on when changing, and gear stays dry in the rain.

The other day is started raining on the way to camp at the track. I had to pull over and take my gear back out of the back of my truck and try and fit it in the cab.

I use a Husky Job Box instead- $50 buck at HomeDepot, and you can wash it out with water- Waay easier to keep clean than a gear bag. Boots/ Helmet/Goggle Bag, everything fits perfectly-

Going on 3 seasons- Bullet Proof

Great idea. I’ve used this box to haul tools for a couple years and it is very durable and has been waterproof. Never thought about using it for Moto.

The TLD bag isn't sold anymore, but it's too bad. I've been using the same one since 2004. I can get 2 sets of gear, one helmet, chest protector, a pair of boots, all my gloves and a goggle bag in mine, no problem.

Oh hey, I found one: https://www.speedgear.com/product/Troy-Lee-Designs-SE-Gear-Bag?utm_sour…
This is what I run along with their small duffel for my goggle case and neck brace. I put everything in mine you do plus helmet in it's case and knee braces I prefer this setup to a Ogio simply because it's a smaller footprint for packing, also I like the idea of a separate compartment for boots, which I don't think the Ogio has. Prior to this, I had a jumbo Fox bag that held everything, but I always got grief for it being too big. Lots of things to consider when buying a gear bag.

......and this makes so much sense it's ridiculous. I'm so sick of rain getting in my foldable top storage boxes

I've been using a plastic box tote myself for the last 5 years now. Works great. No ripping, no losing stuff. Helmet, pants, jersey, neck brace, goggles, everything fits in there. Waterproof. Perfect for me! I can even take the lid off and stand on it to change if the ground is too wet. Best moto investment I've made. I won't be getting anything made of fabric because I like to throw this in the back of the ranger.

Two of these, one for clean stuff, one for dirty at the end of the weekend. That’s perfect.
