Well he hasn't been setting the world on fire so far this year, and now he's injured while practicing ...

This weekend, on Saturday 12 March, Gautier Paulin crashed whilst practicing at Lommel, Belgium and sustained a fractured vertebrate and a broken rib.

On the landing of a jump, his front wheel hit a soft spot of ground which stopped the bike, sending him over the bars with his bike landing on top of him.

He was immediately checked by local motocross specialist Dr. Claes and, after initial inspections determined that the fracture appeared stable, Gautier was permitted to return home. He will continue to see his local specialist in the coming days to continue the assessment of his condition and road to recovery.

Updates will be provided on his recovery and once a target MXGP return date is set.

The word was he went into the season with a injury, although neither him or the team would admit to this. Was a wrist injury no? Probably launched into one of those huge jumps at lommel and his wrist gave way and he went over the bars.. Joke,,
Hope he's back up and racing soon>

Nooooooooooo......

The times Paulin is 100% fit and 100% confident in the bike is so rare.

But when he's on, he's on. The times he can perform to 100% is so cool to watch. MXdN in Kegums was probably the last time we saw that. Although you could argue for the win in Valkenswaard last year also.

Its practice tracks like that, that makes GP riders rape american riders on sandtracks. Practice on the most challenging tracks makes perfect sense to me.

Not sure about that, but he injured his knee in Czech Republic and rode the season out with it i wanna say ?

Man what a bummer for Paulin to get injured again .. The dude can FLY but looks like he never gets back to full health .. His Valkenswaard win last year was almost magic how fast he was going ..

The track at Lommel is beat to shit apart from when the GP is there. The speeds are way too high and there are no marshalls anywhere. It's marked out with stakes and rope all the way round. It's no wonder people get injured there

Shitballs I was looking forward to seeing him turn his season around in Valkenswaard......

I have no clue what's wrong with him. He has the fitness but somehow just lacks the speed. He's been a different rider on the Honda so far. However the bike doesn't seem to be as bad, works for Gajser and Bobby.

Hopefully he will find something working for him next year and we will see the pre 2015 Paulin back.

Yeah, that was the rumour. I asked HRC general manager Roger Harvey about it in my post-race podcasts in Qatar, and he said it was nothing more than a rumour. He was beat up, but there was no injury to speak of.

I've ridden at Lommel several times I know what it's like. It's good on tuesdays and early wednesdays then it becomes too rough for regular riders. Paulin is one of the riders handling that track good so I doubt he feels the same way as you about it.

He could've raced the Dutch Masters of Motocross in Axel. Very rough track but they flatten the face of the jumps. Marshals every where, you have 30 minutes time training + 2x30 races against some competition like Townley, Bobryshev, Bengtsson, Strijbos and a ton of sand specialists...

I don't know if you saw Marc De Reuver and Tommy Searles comments on it on Twitter but they said the same, no marshalls, badly prepped and the speeds are way too high on the practice lay out

He crashed and the bike landed right onto him. Can't see what difference a marshall would've made there.
