So...with all the talk (and probably truth) about GasGas simply being a KTM with red plastic, are there any real differences between the two bikes? I ask because, from what I've been told, the KTM and Husqvarna are different enough that a lot of parts/pieces are not interchangeable.

Different plastics, wheels and no mapping switch. Thats about the only differences.

Different bar clamps, as well. Basically trying to build a bike that costs less than KTM..but its only gonna be around a $900 difference.

I think the red 250s and orange 250s will be very similar to each other by the time they hit the track.

Only?

Thats quite a bit really, hell thats a years tire budget, a good stock of spare parts, a few bolt ons to customize etc. etc.

The market is begging for bikes that don't cost $10k-$12k. I'm all for manufacturers making moves to lessen the costs of new bikes. We don't all need something ready to go race a SX.

Here's the actual pricing...from another thread...

"Here in the US they're $800 less (MC450F: $9,399 v. 450 SX-F: $10,199)"

As you've pointed out: that's a years worth of tires and stuff.

The bike that I think is THE deal at GasGas is the 125. It's retail price is $200 more than the YZ ($6799 v $6599).

I noticed the $200 dif a few days ago and was like dammmmnnn, thats an easy decision for a Yamaha diehard like myself even. But, money talks (no more demo bikes for me) i was tempted to go yellow with the price of the rmz450s and now can get killer deals on kx250s..my blue-crew days are limited thats forsure.

Triple clamps didn’t get the extra machining step on the outside. They look a little more Japanese in finish than the ktm. Function should be equivalent. Tires are different on some of the Mx models. Brakes and clutch are Brembo on Mx and xc I think same as ktm. Subframe is aluminum like ktm.

I definitely didn’t say it was a bad thing.

It’d be nice if it was greater than $1000 cheaper. I think it’s a good thing too.

That could be just to get people to buy, get gas gas some market share. Prices go up in a few years once they’re hot on the consumer.

Really curious why they didn’t release a 350mx gasgas in the states for this year Sad I was going to buy one but I guess I’ll wait for 2022 husky

The traction control/map switch is a gimmick anyway...buy the gas gas and get a vortex with the change if you want real maps....win 👍👍

Hopefully they don't change the clutch like Husqvarna did.
I know the offroad model had issues and had a recall on it.

Thankful they didn't equip the big bikes with the problematic magura clutch unit.

It appears to be quite easy and cost effective to make an EC125 out of an MC125...especially for those of us that don’t feel the need for e-start on a 125.

Stoked!

Where does the $200 saving come from, which parts are different?

Pretty sure everyone missed the biggest difference, which is that gasgas has its own suspension valving.

Other than that the differences are the clamps, lack of a map switch, the exhaust header, and plastics.

These are all things that can drastically make the bike feel different from its read and white brothers

I got to ride an MC 450, and the fork has different valving than the 21 KTM. it’s softer .

I've only ridden my MC450 twice and yes the suspension is just like Ping and Keefer said, more friendly and geared towards the vet rider which I definitely am. I'm VERY impressed with the motor because I had to have my FE's and both of my Rockstar Husky's remapped to run like the GasGas runs bone stock. I do have a 2 stroke cage and full FMF system and running Renegade SX4 fuel so it's not bone stock but that's the same combo that I've for 5 straight bikes and this one just rips where the others needed tuning to run this good so I'm very impressed there. It's a great looking bike and with a few little tweaks here and there will easily be my favorite 450 because I love the red plastic and frame.

Latest posts were asking about what comprises $200 price difference between Gas Gas and KTM 65. Clamps appear the same. Pipe appears the same. Plastics look exactly the same (but different color). This bike does not have a map switch. Unlike big bikes, KTM 65 was already on Maxxis tire, so no change there.

Dry
Had a look at one in action on the weekend,
Different brakes for a start. On the 350 anyway

The brakes on my GasGas are Brembo and they look to be the same Brembo components that are on my cousins KTM FE and my 20 Rockstar Husky that are here in my garage so I'm not sure why people keep saying that the brakes are different.
