Last part, he says if all goes well he’s in. We all know how 2017 worked out for him.

Tomac cartwheeled out of contention in that same race.

He did, but has also won the monster cup twice, and the million last year. Is this a Tomac thread now?

A crash that could have happened to anyone on that track. Hard packed dirt with water on top is a recipe for that kind of crash. Obviously he didn't execute properly and that was his own doing, but that crash could have literally happened to any of those guys and would most certainly take a few of us out.

No but it just proves it can happen to any of them . I hope he gives it another go and does well . Rest assured there will be people hoping he fails so they can say I told you so.

That's my point . Some seem to think he has no business being out there due to that one incident. I'm referring to Gajsers crash now.

If he prepares a little more and finds a reasonable suspension setting he should be fine. Would love to see him do Monster Cup!

I was talking about Tomac, not Gasjer.

But I kind of agree with others about Gasjer though. He needs to ride a real SX track and test SX suspension before trying MEC. He can be so smooth and I fully believe with the proper time and testing, he can definitely be top 5! You know as well and everyone else, SX is a completely different animal. You can't just decide to jump in and race it with outdoor suspension. It takes time to get it down.

I agree. At least he'll try. Damn GP racers are damned if they do and damned if they don't try a race pretty close to being a SX. I'd like to see Prado give it a go too.

Yep. I think that was the race where they started at the top of the stadium and if memory serves me correctly I think Kenny won the first 2 races.

Edit: Kenny wadded up in race 2 but won races 1 and 3 - 2016

If Gajser can shake off his dad and can train with someone like Seb Tortelli in Spain on riding supercross then he can be as magnificent as all the current and past Europeans. If they keep screwing around like they do now, then it's again a disaster waiting to happen. I'm not here to promote Seb Tortelli, He can also ask Pourcel or someone else to help him. Or just go to France/Italy and train with the local SX specialists.

Romain Febvre trained together with some other SX specialists before the rode the SX in Lille, he did great. But then the year after he didn't had enough time to prepare and he crashed and was really lost in Supercross... And to be honest I never thought that Febvre could be a good SX-rider but he really surprised me back in 2016.

Oh besides all previous he needs some race craft. Between the MXON and MEC he got 3 weeks to get dailed in. That's short and he will race riders who have years and years of SX experience under their belt and who are also more prepared for that race. So instead of jumping into the MEC, I would've chosen to race more SX races but maybe some "easier" ones like Zuidbroek, Milan, Paris, Barcelona, Geneva, Lyon, Amnévielle, ... And getting podiums and wins in those races could boost his confidence for the MEC in 2020. But yeah I'm probably just a fool.

No, Tomac did not win the million, the Leprecorn gave it to him.

As someone said, damned if you do damned if you don't. He'll get criticism either way.

Matthes tweets are unnecessary, give the guy a chance. Hats off to him for wanting to give it a 2nd go!

That was far from being a real SX track.

So is MxDN out of the question for him? I would assume he would want as much time to prepare for the monster cup as possible. I would hate to see him just come over a few days in advance and go.

Why race a meaningless event if your not legally contracted to do so by monster? Maybe some inside management of the riders or the pro riders themselves can chime in and explain why this race matters other than the after party.

If you could see the difference in speed Joey knew Tomac was going by one way or another.

Yea I was thinking maybe DV or someone, Tortelli would be my last choice.

For some riders it's not just about contractual obligations or sponsors or even meaning. It's not impossible it's just a personal goal of his? Maybe he just likes the event and wants to take part for fun? Bucket list.
