Hey everyone.

What kind of heart rate tracker do you guys (and gals) recommend? Is there one out there that you know of with GPS as well so I can monitor lap times too?

I use a polar unite. Only like $150 and does the job. It has gps and links up to strava so I’m sure it’s compatible with some other type of lap time app.

I use the Garmin Vivo HR+, and it works pretty well. I use it with the free lit pro app. It’s pretty cool.

If you just want simple lap times, the Polar Vantage or Garmin Vivo is nice. For both, if you want accurate heart rate (while riding), you need a chest strap. Both work with LitPro to give you lap times.

If you want to use LitPro to analyze lines, you need the XGPS unit.

For those reasons, I use Apple Watch, Polar Strap, XGPS 160 unit on the fender. The Apple Watch just does a lot more if you are an Apple user, primarily being able to play Apple Music without your phone, or take phone calls.

I also found the Polar to be way off on things like Vo2 max. It says I am at 70. I train regularly, but nothing crazy, so that's impossible.

Polar H10 strap w/ any of the other above mentioned watches in combination.

For me it’s polar h10 strap w/ polar ignite watch

I do this too. I have a vivo 4 and use a chest strap. I bought the Garmin because I wanted something with better gps accuracy than my Apple Watch I was using. The Garmin does exactly what I was hoping it would do.

You know, Originally I was just looking to track my heart rate and maybe get some rough lap times, but after checkin out the options, I may get the XGPS160 as well! Looks like it could be fun to use, and would help me be more efficient on the bike.

Thanks very much for the replies everyone!

Possibly I went to low end on a Garmin Forerunner 235...heart rate monitor was wildly inaccurate. Also really hated the navigation set up on that thing...seemed archaic.

Sent it back and still haven't bought anything else.

Wahoo tickr x is what I have and it works great. If you want the accurate HR data you need to use a chest strap and you'll have to use a different device for a GPS. Also IMO Garmin's are standard products with an overpriced brand name.
