Pit Row
That's not a line us Europeans hear very often
The quali races will posted to the MXGP youtube channel in an few hours time.
Here it is:
RC did 3 full seasons in 125MX, getting the US National 125 title 3 times. But, that's A-OK, isn't it?
And, didn't he drop back down to the 125s when he'd moved on to 250s, to beat The Bombers race win tally? I'm fine with all of that , but hell, no one else should be able to try to emulate the achievements of others before him?
Seriously, you people that slag Herlings really need to know a bit of history. He's was perfectly within his rights to try to match Gaston Rahier , Harry Everts and Alessio Chiodi in getting 3 World championships in a row. Turns out, he didn't - that's Motocross / Injury for you.Now he's trying to at least equal their tally of titles, in what is now considered the 'tiddler' class. He might do so, he might not.
It's just pathetic the crap written against him, from those that obviously know f**k all about the sport, or think it's OK for one of their 'heroes' to get a few titles in, before they go onto other classes. And, no, I'm not a fanatical follower of Herlings - he's just another rider to me.
And, no, they didn't "change the rules for Herlings", that another ( and plenty of others here seem to want to push) previous poster put forward. Perhaps that prick Luongo realized they might push Herlings into going to the US to be 'allowed' to continue to ride 250s, and they saw sense / changed the rules for themselves.. The age rules, and the lure of SX for some riders, really drive a few GP riders to the US. Heck, it drove one of my favourite riders, Zachy Poo, back to the US, with him not wanting to be forced into 450s. They / Luongo, still need to wake up to themselves and get rid of the piss poor rule for 'ageing out' at 23. 45 /50+ HP 250s are really not tiddlers, and hell, you'd think that the massive entries in EMX 250s (and various Continental National series) might show them that there are plenty of riders coming through..
A further example of the stupidity of this 23 rule, is that EMX250s, the 'feeder' class, has no such rule - the current EMX250 Champion is too old to race in his class in the World Championships. Oh, Pocock rode both EMX250 and some MX2 races in his EMX250 Championship year - so EMX250 riders are allowed to do MX2 GPs, provided they fit the 'under 23' rule - someone asked about it earlier.
No age out rule in the US Nationals, nor SX. Thank f**k. Yes, I am aware of the 'pointing out' rule in the regional 250 SX series.
Back to this weekends GP - should be good! I hope all get through it in one piece. It's a tricky, treacherous track.
