I've never ridden one but now that I'm a dad with a couple kids it's definitely an avenue I'd like to work towards. I've found myself with little desire to get back on a motocross track and not real pumped about my kids getting on one either. I would much rather them do woods riding and keep their tires on the ground more Tongue

funny many are doing the same thing. speeds at the gncc stuff isn't slow by any means. the woods guys i know go with the national enduro stuff , slower and pretty tame. we just did one last week in SC it was a nice day.

I've been racing moto and enduros HS/CC sence the late 70s, not worth pooo at moto to be honest but love it all! The enduros test sections are harder than the other in most cases but you get to rest on the connector sections, it's all good.

Rode my first one last october. Was a blast. I will hit up at least 3 this year. More fun than moto (if it's not super muddy) and you definitely get your money's worth of ride time.

I expect GNCC and hare scrambles in general to grow faster than MX. You get more seat time for your money and the entire family is more likely to participate. With more technology, remote cameras will show more of the course and build spectator attendance. I know our HS races range from 600-800+ each event while local MX races get about 200 riders unless it is a "Big" event.

Raced my first GNCC last week and was amazed at the racer attendance, spectators and the "family" atmosphere...

Not to mention the spectators at all the crazy sections. Can't make it up that hill? Good thing 10 people come out of nowhere and drag you and your bike to the top. It's awesome, especially at the end when you're dead tired.

If you enjoy mx & sx you owe it to yourself to go watch a pro GNCC sometime, you don't get to see the whole race but the sections you do are amazing how fast the pro's go in the woods. I've been to the Snowshoe GNCC and it's crazy tough, I also got to go the Blackwater 100 back in the day, it was an adventure. As far as riding goes i have just as much fun in the woods as i do on the track but that has alot to do with age, just remember tree's don't move.

Me and my buddies ran the GNCC at LL Ranch a few weeks ago.
2 hours of some pretty intense riding. About 800 total between the am and noon race
Hanging onto a good woods bike is a lot of fun. Loretta's has some very nice woods riding and racing.
The motocross track is apart of race as well which is really cool. Charlie Mullins barely edged out Caleb Russell.

obviously a little biased as i ran the offroad racing for ASMC with Randy Hawkins, Steve Hatch!! Great sport with lots of family camaraderie and much more seat time!!

GNCC is motocross. The laps are just a whole lot longer.

The top xc1 guys seem like they are on a different planet sometimes. It's definitely different, but a cool experience nonetheless, to ride or spectate.

The terrain/ground is motocross, but some of the technical scrambles Ive raced were too tight to be consider motocross.

I love GNCC's, especially being from GA. Our local HS series races one of the GNCC courses in Washington, Ga (Anoia) or however you spell it. Those guys are insanely fast though the woods, it's almost scarey.

I wouldn't call a GNCC motocross, more like Cross Country being that's what it is. Some of the races cut through an Mx track, but most of them don't. It's all woods, hills, rocks, rivers & mud holes! Some of them have some tight sections to.

I race an RM 85. Regular/Standard size gas tank. I'm going to race this weekend, but this is my first race with vchss. Im used to 15 12 mi trails when you pit every 2 laps, but this race will be 5-8 miles. So how many laps should I put in before going to the pit?

Your info Is greatly appreciated!

My son and I were there and raced for the first time too. Neither of us needed to pit but we didn't do very well either. Our only goal was to finish which we did and we had a great time.

It was fun, the trial was tight and the people were great. Very friendly, family atmosphere and I couldn't believe how many participants were there! We don't get that many at local MX races.

And there are trees you're racing through, rivers you're racing through, rock gardens you're racing through and not as many jumps. Other than that, it's motocross to a tee.

We are in our third season of the GNCCs. The atmosphere is laid back. Largest crowd was last year at Unidilla - over 1900 entries for the weekend. What is cool about the GNCCs is the throw back to what Pro Motocross use to be. YOu can walk right u p to the pro pits without having to buy a pass! No fences separating the pros and the armatures. In the Main event you race for 3 straight hours. It is fast and pitting is a must. They have pits for the pros and Pro lites class. Everyone else can park around the course and enjoy the racing. Typically you will race 60+ miles at one event. You get your monies worth. Here is a video we did back in 2012 from a GNCC in North Carolina- enjoy!

I pretty much stay offroad anymore. None of the MX tracks around here have a class for anything older than 25 years old. That's a kids class to me.

I can run the +50 class at the offroad events and ride with guys my age. Plus, as mentioned, you get your moneys worth. At the end of the race you've had about all the dirt bike racing you want for one day.

GNCC is the toughest. The speeds are high and the tracks get rough. And Enduro is harder than it looks. The new style events are 5 to 7 good hard sprints for 8 to 12 miles. You're going as fast as you can go on a course you've never seen. It makes for a long hard day.

I love about any two wheeled racing. I think it's all good.

That's the one thing I dislike about being out west, no GNCC. If I was back east, I'd purchase an old KDX200, put some Fredette magic in it and have a blast running the vet class. I get to vist my cousin in the carolinas once a year (current pro bass fisherman, retired pro desert racer) and he takes me on the most insane woods trails. Shit is fun!

I like about every form of motorsports (or sports for that matter). I´ve done all kind of sports with and without a motor. I´ve raced cars and dirtbikes, I´ve raced Motocross, Cross Country and Enduro. It´s all good! The last two years I´ve only ridden my bike for less than 10 hours. This year I rode once in January and once in March before going to our local Cross Country a few weeks back. Needles to say that my hands were soft as babys butt and I really had to dig deep to find the fitness to keep my pace for the 2 hours.

I felt the blisters in my hand pop around the halfway mark, so it was quite painful to hold on to the bike on the faster parts of the track.

I cant embed the facebook photo for some reason:

https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xfp1/v/t1.0-9/1507879…

I´ve been riding a 125 a couple of years because its so much fun and it doesnt wear me out so much as a bigger bike since I dont have time to ride so often and keep my fitness up.

This year the track was superfast and wide and there were no tricky sections so I was a bit handicapped on the tidler. but it sure was fun!! Smile

Heres the GoPro: The racing starts at the 10min mark!

lap 3 also keep in mind you dont need to top off your tank, I usually added about 1.5 gals in my old kxs with a stock tank, get you ann IMS 3ga tank. then you can run a whole HS no problem.
