Front wheel issue

Edited Date/Time 1/24/2012 4:58am
I cased a jump real hard yesterday on the RMZ450- (hard enough to have a sore neck and ankles today) and the front end immediately felt really mushy. I actually thought I had blown a tire.

Steering feels very imprecise. When I put it on the stand and spin the wheel, it doesn't spin very freely. Feels like the disc is rubbing, but that can't be from the hit. Could i have messed up the axle? I have blown a front tire casing this jump before on my RM250.

And yes, it hurt.

Twisted front axle? (Moved in the axle-clamps and it's binding)

I bet you twisted the front end, loosen it up and do the whole wheel spin brake tap deal.

Your forks also could've shifted in the triple clamps .....either twisted or one fork leg is higher up in the clamp than the other. That would also cause your disc to rub

Try going faster over that jump so you clear it more easily...glad I could help.

Hah-- wish I had. I tried to abort on a double/double and got slammed silly.

Good replies...I guess I will tear it all down and make sure it's lined up. Bearings should be pretty new.

might check your triple clamps, my 05 RMZ450 had really weak ones and they twisted big time. I beleive it wa the bottom ones. Just take them off and lay bottom sid down on a flat surface. If they wobble they're bent. I also had a bent front disc rotor, was able to press it straight until i could upgrade to an oversized one.
