Anyone have video footage of Fro's win at the US Open? I've never seen that race.

I’m gonna follow this thread because I was looking for that literally three days ago myself. I just got one of his jerseys he wore that weekend and I wanted to see what night and race he wore it

I'm extremely jealous. I've been looking a late 90s early 2000s Fro jersey for quite a while. If anyone has one available please hit me up.

Hope someone produces some footage.

So, was the US Open Fro's only race on the Edge Yamaha?

He also raced the lightly attended Rose Bowl round of the World SX series . I think he finished 4th or so .

Would have been 2000. There is a poster just of his bike and one with him on the bike.

Could be . I have that race buried somewhere on a vhs tape. Pastrana won the 125s.

I understand how Ralph got the job now. His announcing and insight on this was fantastic!
It’s not the same now and it might be because he has to go to Emig for all the colour analyst comments?? I shake my head at most of his commentary in races but this from 20 yrs ago was great!

I was there that night. I was either 8 or 9 depending on the time of year. It was a fun race to go to. I’m pretty sure that was the last one they did? That was the first time I met Travis Pastrana. I had no idea Ralph announced it or had even been around the sport that long. And I’m with you, I don’t get the hate for him. He does his job well.

The coolest thing was, when The Edge Kawasaki team went tits-up, he hooked Michael Byrne up with some bikes to continue/finish the SX season. I think he was in the running for top privateer?

I remember word was that emig was hauling ass at the yamaha test track leading up to the supercross season before he broke both wrists. They were saying he was faster them Mcgrath. Sucks that he got hurt, he definitely had something to prove that year after kawi fired and all that.

Im not a Ralph hater, but I think I can explain to you why people do hate on him since you said you don't get it. It's because he announces like it's directed at children. He dumbs it way down and overreacts a lot. I mean I think that's why, that's absolutely what I see. But I also see someone who's passionate about the sport we all love, and that he's probably doing his job exactly how his boss wants him to. He seems to me like a real genuine, wholesome person, and though I don't love his commentating, I don't hate it. It'd feel weird hearing someone else's voice at this point. I had a hard time adjusting after Art and David left. People praise Art Eckman it seems, he wasn't the smoothest either... But he's still a legendary staple in 90's moto.

Ralph was great in this video!! Thanks for sharing. Plus cool to see Fro on that Edge Yamaha.

Ralph is good, guys. He's a pro with a ton of experience and a passion for Supercross. I'm telling you. It's the directive that is the problem. They are told to call races like everyone is a new fan. Maybe that is more Chris Bond's responsibility than it is Ralph or Fro's.

People complain about Ralph but the guy calling this race, Mike Joy, is terrible. I wasn't a fan of Despain or Meyers, either. But that's just me.

Yeah, everyone wants Weege and I, too, love Jason but that's probably not going to happen as the two different disciplines don't share commentators anymore. And not a fan of Robbie Floyd.

My support is with Ralph and Fro but it does need to be less casual than it's direction is now, in my opinion. Other possible good editions to the broadcast crew are Blair (great but does need to do more homework on history of sport), Mikey.

To me, Art Eckman is THE voice of Supercross and Motocross but Weege is a legend and Todd Harris (who was great) and Ralph are my other favorite pbp announcers of our sport.

Larry Huffman was fun but too WWE is.

Fro still knows how to twist the throttle. He was at the Evergood Open last weekend here in Iowa. He ran the 1st moto of 40+ and smoked the field.
